Was Walker Howard way overrated or is there more to the story?

Since he arrived at LSU and Ole Miss, he hasn't come close to sniffing the starting lineup. Usually, a five-star is the talk of the town and seen as a program saver, but he's been nothing more than a professional board holder.

Most five stars would have jumped ship by now or is he way overrated or is next year the year he takes over?

One thing is clear up to this point. CBK definitely needs to be more selective with who he decides to do the "Bayou Boogie" with. Next time, he at least needs to make sure it's a player that's going to stay around for more than a few minutes!

He’s like Arch. Went to schools with great QB situations which doesn’t work if you want to start right away

Thanks I’ll let Kelly know.

And to answer your Walker Howard question is because he’s a giant puss.

He was a kid who made a splash early as a freshman and sophomore in high school. But then others caught up and the recruiting services didn’t reevaluate him. He’s a 3 star. There’s really nothing special about him. He will be serviceable after Dart leaves assuming Lane doesn’t go portal hunting.

Let me get this straight.

A player who was recruited by the prior regime as a consensus 5-star transfers to another school, does nothing, and somehow Brian Kelly has something to answer for?

If this isn't the most Tiger Ranty post I've ever seen.

Howard wasn't going to beat out Nuss in 2024 so he left thinking he would ride the pine this past season and start at Ole Miss this season.

I think many thought Dart would leave after last season which would open the door for Howard to start but Dart decided to come back.

He wasn’t a 5 star.

No one knows. Go back and read the opinions of the Rant experts on Nuss, prior to the SEC Championship vs Georgia. After that performance they still were steadfast in their criticism, even though the ex-coaches and players calling the game had high praise for his performance. After the game vs Wisconsin, they grew quiet.
Howard is behind one of the top QBs in the SEC. It will be another season, if No 1 stays healthy, before Howard gets a chance to prove he can play.

He could turn out to be a top QB, so give him time. Which fresh QB gonna beat out Jaden Daniel’s or Jaxson dart!

Howard was never going to be the guy at LSU and he realized it early. With Hurley and Underwood on the way, both would have passed him up after Nuss is done.

Every year there are five stars who don’t make it big.

Some of their skill sets don’t translate well once everyone is as big and strong as they are. Some can’t adjust to the speed of the game. Some lack the work ethic because they have always been bigger and stronger and never developed the work ethic to be their best.

I don’t think anyone here will have a clue about why walker hasn’t become a starter yet but judging from his decision to leave lsu and become immediately third string somewhere else he might struggle as a decision maker. ??

I don’t blame him for transferring but never understood the Ole Miss move. I expected to see him roll with Tulane or ULL with a better chance to start sooner. Lateral move to Ole Miss.

He never should have went to LSU

I get it you grew up around the program and it’s your dream but if you’re not coming into a situation where they need you to start as a sophomore you should just go elsewhere.

For example he could have went to a Big12 school and probably start by now.

Daniels and Nussmeier were better than him. He might get a starting job at Ole Miss when Dart is gone.

I don’t think you can answer the question until his eligibility is up. For now, he hasn’t been good enough to get on the field and stay there.
