Unreal. Was actually talking about that game the other day. Dooley's reaction is priceless

I was one of the students on the field. The refs could have called PI on us. Feet were in the end zone. It was ridiculous and would never happen today. Good times.

I love how Les is just sitting there sipping on water bottle before the real final play. No one should ever be that relaxed to drink water when game depends on 1 play.

Yes, but only if we are not counting the post-Katrina Saints games.

They finally straightened it out.

They finally looked at the video replaying over and over on the jumbotron.

First use of instant replay to overturn a call in CFB as far as I know.

Honorable mention goes to an Alabama game where there was a fumble recovery, flags, and various confusion. After conferring, the refs spotted the ball and signaled it was Alabama ball when clearly LSU had possession. Fans came unglued.

They finally straightened it out. I remember saying that they better figure it out quickly because someone was going to go on the field and literally kill a referee.
November 2000. I thought Saban (and I) were going to die of apoplepsy.

It was straightened out because one of the refs looked at the replay on the big screen that the crowd was watching, even though there was no official replay at the time. They showed it several times to make sure the refs saw it.

No, when they had to cancel the remainder of the game because they couldn't stop the fight, that's chaotic

Man the stadium was rocking in that 2000 Tennessee OT victory. I miss them days.

I was on the field that night, the goal posts, the river, the good times.

Not only that, I think the refs were actually expressly forbid from considering such replays. Saban doin' work.

They originally threw the flag for kick catch interference on a punt. After conferring, they waved off the flag which pissed everyone off enough, but then they tried to award the ball to Alabama even though we had clearly recovered it. Was very close to being one of the biggest blunders of all time.
This really cannot be overstated. Quite literally, LSU fielded a punt at their own 10 yard line...and the ref was just going to give Bama (the punting team!) the ball at the 10. It was through the looking glass.
