Was this game similar to LSU-Bama 2002?

Bama ran all over us
#12 ranked 2 loss LSU loses big at home to a #10 Bama with a loss or two

I wasn’t there, but I heard that it was one of the worst games ever to attend. Freezing cold and LSU basically didn’t show up for the game. Complete and total arse kicking in freezing cold weather.

Worse. No 12 team playoff back then.

1996
2002
2018
Take your pick. They’re all about the same.

Very similar. 1996 and 2002 were just like this years game. I was there and sat through all three miserable games. Shaun Alexander and Jalen Milroe are still running.

It was pretty close. Went to that game it was brutal. I believe it was cold and windy as hell if memory serves me.

I remember that 96 and 02 game.
The 02 game i had a few legit Starr players in a class . Remember it like yesterday they drank all our whiskey and beer on a Wednesday night.
We had essay exam on a Thursday morning .
They simply showed up with the essay questions and I wrote the answers out .
Didn’t really mind benefited me
However I knew we were fricked that Saturday on Wednesday!!

It was very similar. One of the coldest games I remember, and it was the week after the bluegrass miracle, so the crowd was pumped to start the game. Bama kept running the same draw play all night long and completely gashed us. At the postgame handshake, Franchione bitched out Saban at midfield because someone posted a fake post game speech alleging that Saban called Bama a bunch of cheaters in the locker room right after the Kentucky win. Might have even been on this website before you had to register, I can't remember the details.

Didn’t we lose 30-0?
Didn’t Francioni drill Saban in the chest with his index finger at midfield at the end of the game?
Hadn’t we just won the SEC the previous season?
It was worse.

Yeah that sucked. LSU has suffered a bunch of humiliations from Bama. The difference was back then we had lowered expectations.

How about 2016?
That game was close until the very end.
0-0 going into the 4th quarter

Yeah our offense was it’s usual hopeless self against Bama but at the defense kept it close

I was thinking this before the game. It was eerily similar. And guess what? Shortly after that Francione flamed out

Very similar. 2002 Bama game is still the worst game I have sat through in Tiger Stadium. The game Saturday night was very close.
Interesting that 2002 was also Year 3 for Saban. Finished 8-5 that year with a couple other blow out losses (26-8 to VA Tech & 31-7 to Auburn).

quote:This is correct. Miserable weather and the defense couldn’t stop the trap draw. Bama ran it over and over for something like 300 yards rushing.

I mentioned during the game, it felt like the 1996 game where Shaun Alexander ran wild. He rushed for 292 yards and scored 4 TDs… Sad night in Tiger Stadium.
