re: Was Sunday Considered for making up the game?

Playing this game on Sunday would have been a logistical nightmare. Most athletic departments do have contingency plans for this, but it would have been difficult to run on less than 24 hour notice on a holiday weekend. This is not a baseball series where you can just play a double header the following day. Neither coach wanted to play this game on Sunday or our bye week. McNeese still walks out with a nice paycheck and we walk out without any injuries. Get over it and start worrying about beating State.

LSU should have just loaded up on a bus and went to Lake Charles to play Sunday. Or met halfway and played at Cajun field.

You're a miserable know it all lsu apologist douche who thinks lsu can do no wrong. This wassn't some crazy natural disaster. It was a few lines of everyday thunderstorms. Had the people in charge put forth any effort at all, the game could have been played.

Was Sunday Considered
Damn... You might be on to something. As a matter of FACT I believe it may not have been considered by anyone else but you. You should write Mr Alleva a kindly worded note about that unique idea.
Do you even logistics bro?

OK chief, I'll bite.
So we can't find officials for major college football on short notice? What happens if an official become ill? Surely that's the easiest of the issues to overcome. Come on man.
You honestly think LSU doesn't have the logistical capacity to pull that off? Most of those folks are contractors. You think BevInc couldn't secure concessions on short notice for the opportunity to make double revenue, considering how I'm willing to bet the concession take Saturday was pretty damn good.
After Katrina we literally made other schools rework their schedules so we could get the games in. This required nothing.
Now I won't debate the merits of getting the actual game in. Do I think it would benefit the team to have real game experience? Of course I do. But I damn sure didn't want to play at 1am, and there is no reason to move this game to the bye week. But to say logistics prevented this game from being played Sunday is just silly.

even consider the MASSIVE undertaking it is to put on a sporting event for 90.000 people? the security needed? The parking attendants? The catering and food which would have to be schedule to show up AGAIN today. Ushers, security, etc.

It would have been difficult being a holiday weekend, but it was doable. Alleva is going to catch hell for this, but it was Les' call.

McNeese didn't want to play the game after Saturday either.

Thank you! Nobody wants to talk about this either.

Right, because all of the workers and volunteers just keep their entire weekends open in case a Saturday game is cancelled. Good luck trying to get in contact and schedule all of the manpower needed on such short notice.

Lets review some of the silliness:
Last minute housing and feeding of the visiting team who have to spend the night in Baton Rouge
Finding another set of officials (who have other jobs) who can be here on short notice or perhaps housing and feeding the ones already here over night in Baton Rouge
Finding contract security personnel(who have other jobs) to show up
Re-assigning police unis from normal HOLIDAY duties to direct traffic
Re stocking the concessionaires on very short notice
Getting the volunteer concession workers (who have other jobs) to show up
Getting LSU stadium security personnel (who have other jobs) to show up
Getting the television truck personnel back or housing and feeding them in Baton Rouge
I'm guessing that you have never planned anything more complicated than a game of solitaire on your computer. Amirite?

There is way too much common sense and practicality in this. Downvote! Downvote! Downvote!

All I hear are excuses. I need solutions.
Seriously, I don't care about the BS, game should've been played. Whether it be at midnight or 1am or Sunday at 2 pm.
In the future they damn well better have a contingency plan. Visiting teams req to get hotels, regardless of proximity for one.
Not playing this game was a loss.

You don't care to know how sporting events are properly run.

So you want our team, who is normally starting their pregame at 7am, to try and restart prepping a midnight game after being up for 15+ hours?
IT'S OVER. BEAT STATE!

I just listened to a 15 minute interview with Alleva. The Tiger medical staff voiced the same argument.

grabass way it was handled. Nobody knew WTF was going on. Wait til midnight, then cancel at 1030. Clearly they never considered that something like this might happen and had no earthly idea what to do except watch the sky.
I don't know if they would've started at midnight or not but they clearly stated that the game had to start by 11:59. At 10:30, there was more lightening close to the stadium than there had been all night. The rain was still approaching at a very slow pace from the north. I'm not sure how much lightening occurred after 10:30 but at that point, they needed to wait 30 minutes before taking the field and then they would need 30 minutes to warm up since it had been almost 5 hours since they played. That's a 11:30 restart if there was no lightening after 10:30.

fine, then cancel the game earlier and go play a scrimmage indoors to get the reps
Blows my mind that we are so inflexible.
In the future they need to have a better plan than to just straight up cancel a game. At least in this case it was such a menial game.
I'd be in favor of playing the first game of the year in an indoor stadium such as the superdome so that this type of thing doesnt happen again.

A Sunday option would have required Alleva and his staff make a Plan B.
They would've had to have planned, written extra words into contracts and complicated stuff like that.
Them boys ain't getting paid enough for all that. They be state workers.
He only makes $725,000.00 unless he earns that $100k bonus.

Woowww...you seem to know so much about everybody else and you can't even figure out on your own that you're an insufferable prick....go figure.

We could have played late. 90,000 were not coming back into the stadium 2-3 hours later anyway.. The game nexst week is on the road. We couldn't clean up a stadium in two weeks? That's a BS answer.
