Fournette was awesome...no doubt. And, I think he's "better" than Clyde.

But, several of Clyde's signature plays last year wouldn't have been made by Fournette.

Clyde had a great season, but Fournette is the greatest running back in the history of the program. He would've had 2,000 yds and won the Heisman if not for the Alabama game where he lost it to Henry.

I'd say

1. Fournette
2. Faulk
3. Guice
4. Hilliard
5. Alexander
6. Clyde
7. Hill
8. Harvey Williams
9. Addai
10. Scott

Just my opinion though.

Very fair point, no doubt, but I think the same could be said about a lot of Fournette's signature plays as well. Not to denigrate Clyde in any way, he was absolutely huge. In fact, I think you could say that no RB further exceeded expectations more than Clyde Edwards-Helaire!

LF7 was the best talent overall, but he was the whole offense.

Guice and Hill are better as well. Clyde was just an excellent excellent fit and he played a hell of year. He’s going to be great with KC.

Clyde was the smartest, most versatile back since Faulk. But, would he have started over Guice, Fournette, or Hill? Probably not. But, there was nothing the position demanded that Clyde did not do very well. Zero weaknesses.

Well, Fournette was great a lot of the time...

but he doesn't make this play

That would have been your standard 3 yd loss.

I absolutely love Clyde. I think CEH was the perfect back for last years offense.

But from a raw talent standpoint he’s not at the top. Just without even thinking LF, Guice and Hill were better pure RBs. Maybe a couple more this century that I’m not recalling right now.

This is pretty much true, but Clyde out performed both of them by a good bit against Bama. Not sure if Guice or Fournette would have made the big plays Clyde did.

Neither had this offense either. Who knows what they could have done in this system.

Fournette should have been a linebacker.

With his speed and power, he'd have been All American and likely special by now in the NFL.

It's funny, RB was more glamorous in college, but LB would probably make him more money.

LF7s games vs bama just kill it for me and CEH performed the best when it mattered most.

Found the guy, or girl hopefully, that doesn't understand football.

Ok now do the play against Florida before the first touchdown that Clyde gets caught from behind on. Fournette probably scores a touchdown on that play.

See I can cherry pick one play and say the other would have done this or that but overall Fournette was a better running back. Clyde was great for the 2019 offense but Fournette would have been great too just in a different way.

I think that Les never recovered from the Jarrett Lee pick 6 year. Les' offenses had always threw the ball a pretty good amount, even Lee threw allot that year. He just got so gun shy after all the pick 6's that he went ultra conservative knowing he could win enough games with a good defense and grind it out offense to keep his job. I guess he was right since he stayed here 8 more years and made allot of money.

Weren't a lot of Fournette's 'missed tackles' due to the guys falling off him once he broke through the line?

To be totally honest, if I'm an NFL team, I probably take Clyde. I know that seems to offend some people, but Clyde makes people flat-out miss, and he's built in such a manner that when he's rolling, he's going to get yards after contact too.

Fournette could make it look like he's a man running against 13 yd olds, but that didn't happen against Alabama or NFL teams. And once you hit that highest level, I'd prefer the guy that you can't get a clean shot on, rather than the runaway freight train.

Fournette was 7th in the nfl in rushing last year & 6th in yards from scrimmage.

What Fournette did at LSU with that passing game is more impressive than what Clyde did last year in the best offense in CFB history.

Alabama would have shut Clyde down too.

Umm, only thing about that is, they didn't.

Could Fournette have been great in last year's offense? Sure, maybe, we don't know. His skill set isn't essential to that offense. Burrow's not handing off 25 times a game to him.

We all think Clyde is a change-of-pace guy, but he led the SEC in rushing, as basically an afterthought in the scheme. That's pretty fricking amazing.
