Umm, only thing about that is, they didn't.

The only thing about that, is he played on the best offense ever & not the 15’ & 16’ atrocities

do we know that? I mean Fournette could spin (or he might just truck the guy cut outside and score)

Y'know, it's pointless to argue about this stuff.

We can pick anyone we want, it really doesn't matter. You can complain about schemes, etc. It's all really just about who your favorite was.

I'm going to lean towards Clyde, because in his one season as a starter, he led the conference in rushing, came up big against conference foes. He went over 100 yds against Vandy, Florida, Auburn, Alabama, Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Clemson. He averaged 6.6 yds per rush, over 10 yds against Fla, over 5 against both Auburn and Alabama (and oh btw, over 30 against Arkansas). He was drafted in the first round, so that doesn't seem to be a terrible pick.

If you prefer Fournette, then great. He was a great Tiger and had lots of exciting games. He just couldn't do it on the field against Alabama; he got 31 yds in '15, then made a point of talking about how focused and ready he was going into the '16 game, and got 35 yds.

Were those Bama D's great? Sure they were. Nick Chubb got 146 on them in '15. Jalen Hurd got 92 yds against them. Were Tennessee and Georgia better on offense than LSU that year? Brandon Harris had 2165 yds and 13 TDs; Lambert (the UGA QB) had 1959 and 12; Dobbs (UT) had 2291 and 15. So nobody had a fearsome passing game.
Bama won all three games, but Chubbs and Hurd were respectable against them. Fournette got embarrassed.

Weren't a lot of Fournette's 'missed tackles' due to the guys falling off him once he broke through the line?

Are you under the impression that when people hit a player and do not make the tackle it is not a missed tackle?

quote:

To be totally honest, if I'm an NFL team, I probably take Clyde. I know that seems to offend some people, but Clyde makes people flat-out miss, and he's built in such a manner that when he's rolling, he's going to get yards after contact too.

Do you even remember Fournette at LSU outside of that one Bama game? He made people miss or ran through them or just flat out ran people.

Clyde was great and perfect fit for the 2019 offense. Fournette is the better talent and was better at LSU. Going into 2019 people didn’t think Clyde should be the starting RB.

but Clyde out performed both of them by a good bit against Bam

Maybe because Clyde wasn't having to run out of an I formation in 22 personnel into stacked boxes over and over again.

See, I get all that, but Chubb had to do it too, and he got 146 yds and a TD. Bama still kicked their arse like they did ours, but Chubb lived up to billing.

There's a lot of guys that lined up in the I and ran the ball, and you don't have to make excuses for the scheme when you look back at their stats.

Fournette had a ton of yards in other games, and LSU then, had the same attitude (not scheme) as last year:
this is what we do, and we've got the talent to do it, so we're going to do it to you too.
Nobody throttled Burrow in when we got a lead in the 4th. Similarly, nobody changed up the gameplan simply because of the opponent then- we had Fournette and a big line, and we're going to kick your teeth in. It just didn't happen.

This is pretty much true, but Clyde out performed both of them by a good bit against Bama. Not sure if Guice or Fournette would have made the big plays Clyde did.
Are you dumb? All Alabama had to be concerned with was Leonard. Easy to stop when that's The case. Alabama had to cover the whole field and then some when Clyde played.

I will argue this was the greatest season by an LSU running back (even though Fournette's sophomore season is one we probably won't see repeated statistically, but he was dead meat vs Bama).

And I'll also add CEH's performance vs Bama was the greatest single game performance by an LSU running back (I know statistically there were many others that leave it in the dust, but to do that to Bama at their house, amazing).

I'm gonna say Stingley will go down as the best back we have had when it's all said and done.

He’s very talented but I think this offense just fit Clyde so much better. If we’re talking pure talent I’ll take Buga and Guice over CEH

Correct. Very well said

Imagine how well fournette would have done in last year's offense.
