for that stat to have any relevancy, don't we need to know how many times we ran the ball on 1st down?
We threw it 121 times on 1st down, how many times did we run on 1st down?

We talk about Les and lack of passing

And after one game as if every other game is going to unfold exactly the same. It's sad so many of our fans have such an entitled and negative attitude (and know so much more than our coaches about winning football games) that they can't enjoy a win on the road and look forward to a facing off with a great opponent this coming weekend.

Exactly Boxcar. Also, like a previous poster just said, there are many more first downs than third downs. Also, downs don't tell you the whole story.

Someone already broke it down by down and distance. The overall run/pass shows balance too, especially in meaningful games

Feel free to read the thread to support your argument. Their is now plenty of support to call the claim false and zero to call it true.

In the first half of the next game (Ole Miss) we ran 15 times and threw 12. Unfortunately 3 of those were interceptions. You know Les probably puked in the locker room over 3 TO and then decided to go to ground to NEVER have that happen again

Mett went full retard in that game. Lost some trust from the coaches I would imagine.

My point is, did we really have an open passing attack that yea

Are you joking? 2013 was the second best single season passing numbers in lsu history.
In the sec,Mett was 6th in pass attempts, 3rd in passing yards, 1st in passing yards per attempt, 2nd in qb rating.

What some posters don't realize is that lsu doesn't run a HUNH offense so our offensive totals will rarely be higher than teams who run a HUNH because they are running more plays.

For example: in 2013 lsu was ranked 11th in the country in offensive yards per play, BUT we were 105th in plays ran so our totals weren't as high as a lot of team that were far below lsu in offensive yards per play.

If Mett had as many passing attempts as Bo Wallace or JManziel, he would have obliterated the lsu record books.

Looking back, I don't know if that's is true.

It's not debatable if our 2013 offense was good.
Our qb had the second best passing season in lsu history and our rb set the sec single season yards per carry record.

We never had this wide open offense in 2013 at all, Lot of those throws were on 3rd down or 2nd and long. Obvious passing situations.

You're crazy. These are the historical rankings that the 2013 lsu offense achieved

per game (453.3) … LSU offense also ranked in Top 5 in school single-season history in total yards (No. 2 with 5,893), rushing/passing TDs (No. 2 with 60), passing yards (No. 3 with 3,263), passing yards per game (No. 4 with 251.0), scoring (No. 4 with 465) and points per game (No. 2 with 35.8) … Connected on 192-of-296 passes for 3,082 yards and 22 touchdowns and just eight interceptions … Ranked second in the SEC in pass efficiency behind Johnny Manziel (172.9) with a 171.4 rating … Just the third player in school history to pass for 3,000-yards or more in a season joining Rohan Davey (3,347 in 2001) and JaMarcus Russell (3,129 in 2006) … Had three 300-yard passing games in 2013, the second-highest single-season total in LSU history trailing Rohan Davey (7 in 2001) … Ranked No. 3 in school history with a 64.8 completion percentage in 2013 and No. 8 in completions (192) … The 22 TD passes ties for No. 3 in a season at LSU … Threw at least one TD pass in 10 of LSU’s 12 regular-season games … Had more TD passes (15) and passing yards (1,738) than any player in school history through the first six games of the season … Became just the fifth player in LSU history and the first since Rohan Davey in 2001 with back-to-back 300-yard passing games against Georgia (372) and Mississippi State (340) …

28% pass plays. 72% run plays in 2013.

We had a rb that ended up having the 2nd best rushing season in lsu history and he was setting the sec single season yards per carry record.
