Was 2019 worth being a mid-to-bottom tier program for possibly a decade?

Part of me says “yes” because 2019 will forever be talked about as one of, if not the, greatest football teams of all time. What we’ve always wanted to see here.
And part of me says “no”. Why does it have to be that way? Why is sustainable elite tier football so elusive here?

We really should have to make that kind of trade off.

Yes
And we won’t be. As soon as O is gone the turnaround will be quick

We needed it if we are to get through the next few years to a decade

2019 was worth everything we have endured thus far.
But I never imagined we’d really go through this.

I don’t think you can count on that. Ask Tennessee.

Well then we better get to it then huh?
And Tennessee doesn’t have anywhere near the recruiting base LA does.
Get a proven offensive minded coach in BR and we’ll be fine very quickly.

Fair point but we do have one advantage that Tennessee doesn’t have.
Our recruiting region is so much better than Tennessee’s. We’d have a much better opportunity to make up heroine quickly than the Vols do.
But we HAVE TO NAIL THE HIRE.

We have the talent. We just need a new coach and the rebound will be almost immediate.

2019 proved all along what LSU could do if they had some semblance of an offensive identity. You hire someone like Kiffin or Urban Meyer and it won’t be a decade.

Tennessee does not have the home recruiting base we do...when their recruiting pipeline to La, Bama, and Ga was cut off down their program went...

Next coach will inherit a juggernaut of talent with a franchise QB coming next season.
Just need to have all hands on deck to prevent a huge transfer exodus.

It doesn’t have to be and it’s not..
People are acting like HUGE pussies right now

the correct answer is Nick Saban that's why
he's the best and there is no close 2nd IMHO.
His coaching tree consist of former NFL head coaches go to get their head back on straight, gain confidence and learning how to run a program is done with sustained exellence.
He once said "we don't change our system to fit a new hire, (like an experienced OC) they come here, they have to learn our language and they way we do things because everyone else in the building already knows the system...
that said, we subconsciously compare ourselves to Alabama as does everyone else..."how does he remain #1 every year? they never have an off year
he's the only one in Football history who has accomplished what he's done thus far at Alabama... 7 titles over 18 years and he has lost 2 ...that's about 50% of the time he plays for a title
and unfortunately for the rest of us, he's not done...he will likely coach another 5 or 6 seasons
when he retires, CFB might seem to "level out'...where more programs take turn winning a title

Yes because 2019 went down as one of the best seasons ever in college football. Also we should not have to have a trade off of win it all and then be mid tier for a decade. Bama wins championships on a regular basis and they just reload. I know Saban is the greatest college coach ever. But you don't need to have such a steep drop-off if you have people that recruit top 10 classes and have great coordinators.

Absolutely for me, but it won’t be a decade. We’ve won three in the last 18 years. I’ll take one every six years and average the other five years. A whole lot of fans never get the opportunity to see their team win one.
