Hawthorne was great despite the many flubs on his sports calls. In my mind he is the GOAT for LSU, only because I was just a wee lad when John Ferguson was on the call and faintly remember hearing his voice as a youngster.

I don’t remember any LSU Baseball broadcasts prior to Skip’s arrival.

Cora took that pretty hard.

He had a decent MLB playing and managing career, considering that he probably still has lingering trauma from that Morris homerun.29 years ago.

I always tell people the 2 events that I will always know where exactly I was and can replay in my mind were Warren Morris HR and 9/11

He snubbed me for autograph at Turner Field when playing for the pirates.

I was at the Hooter’s in Mesquite, TX. jumping up and down screaming all by myself. Everyone else thought I was nuts.

Warren Morris and Cosmo Kramer, two of the world’s foremost snubbers.

I'll always remember being at a family friend's house watching the game

I was cooking on the back porch and watching the game through the window. I had walked inside to see the Hawpe AB and stayed there through the commercial break.

The thing about that moment that is rarely mentioned is that the broadcasters stayed away too long for the commercial. When they came back it was just seconds until the Morris launched the historic HR. My eyes had just made it back to the TV as Morris started his swing.
