The QB this year is only a temporary fix, but for the next 3 years Walker is the guy. He might even challenge Burrow, seriously

I think Walker takes over the starting job as a redshirt sophomore in 2024 after Nuss leaves. I think the only valid reason to redshirt him this year is so he can recover from his injury and get 100% healthy. From what is being reported, he is the most talented qb we have and I can't wait to see him in action

There is serious discussion if Walker should start as a true freshman. His dad Jamie doesn’t want him to but the coaching staff is pushing to start him. I agree with Jamie but I understand the staff

The kid has the talent to be a great QB, but we won’t know how great he will be until he faces the pressure of a game against some of the great SEC teams
Let him grow, mature and take the reins when he is ready. No rush for him.

That was a perfect storm. The chances of being as good as Burrow with that caliber of receivers combined with coaching is unlikely.

The only reason he's taking a redshirt is to get healthy and 100% recover from his injury. If Jacob Eason, Jake Fromm, Jalen Hurts, John Rhys Plumlee can start as true freshmen in the SEC then there's no reason why Walker can't either
