Lol
I told you I was missing when they moved to CUSA
...hides my face in the sand
I guess it does get better. Just don't like him. Part of it is he sat behind me when scouting a player when he was at LSU and I was in junior high/late elementary school. He sounded like an imbecile.

I don't want Kermit, but that's as solid a 6 year run as any mid-major coach in the country. Especially considering his NCAA success the past two seasons.

This is all a bunch of bullshite and people are falling for it yet again

It gets way better, actually. I'm an MTSU alum and Kermit is the best thing to happen to MTSU athletics.

Agreed.
I've just watched so many mid-major, hot flavor of the month coaches flame out. There wasn't a hotter name than Anthony Grant at the time he was hired. For every Pearl there are 5 Anthony Grants.
Unless it's Marshall, Few, Archie Miller, Matta type when he was at Xavier, I'm going with the Creans of the world.

I'm worried about Wades recruiting. Total unknown.
Shaka was better than him at VCU in this regard.
X and Os, Wade is very, very good.

Just from reading his Wikipedia page it says he helped bring a top 25 class to Harvard while on Amaker's staff. I thought I remember reading something that he's a good recruiter

Which is why a guy like Kermit SHOULD be more palatable. He has a solid 15 year run at one school that he built up, and and extremely successful 6 year run.
He's not a flash in the pan young guy building on someone else's success.
I get the negatives, and I agree, but people saying Kermit would be a disaster or horrible, is a joke.
The guy is an excellent coach and recruiter.

Kermit Davis has been at MTSU for 15 sesaons and has sustained success since 2011. He's certainly not some up and comer who got hot for a season or 2 at a mid major.

Overall, he's been solid. I won't argue that after seeing post 2012 results. But it's a meh hire.
You can never tell how a mid major guy will workout. So much of it is AAU, dirty recruiting connects. A lot of mid major guys can't cut it. They build programs on the non-AAU 4 year types. And when they get to the highest level, they just can't do it.
Unless you're Gregg Marshall, with a fantastic resume of taking under the radar talent and consistently winning with it, I question the transition. Marshall could finish at the top of the SEC with WSU talent.
I can't say that with Kermit. I know what we'll get with him. He's Brady. Defense and rebounding. I'm not knocking Brady on that. The guy could recruit big men. But the easiest position to recruit he could throw a fishing line in on a boat in the ocean.
He could never recruit guards. Torris Brite was about the only decent true PG he ever recruited. We could never shoot.
We had Davis and Bass. Thomas and Davis. Smith and Swift. Randolph. And Xavier Whipple at PG. Wed play great defense. Beat the shite out of people on the boards. And shoot 15% from three.

That same page has had him as our coach for about 2 hours now. What does it all mean?? Doesn't the dude who runs Wikipedia act pretty quickly to correct things that aren't confirmed as true?

I've no doubt Kermit would struggle with the rat race of 1 and dones. he's nearly 60 at this point and has never t had to recruit like that in his career. I'd say post 2011, though in terms of success.

Well yes and no. If he'd have a deep run under his belt or avg 28-30 wins per year like White at Florida I'd say ok I'll look past it. But 4 years of house keeping and winning 20 once vs sisters of the poor just isn't enough
Why 28-30? That seems awefully picky considering he was 25-11 and 26-9 his two seasons at VCU.
As for your "house keeping" remark. Here's a tidbit about VCU under Wade.
quote:
Wade guided the team to their first ever A10 Conference regular season championship and a 25-11 overall record. VCU made it to the championship game of the A10 conference tournament for the 4th straight season, falling to St. Joseph's. The team won at least 24 games, VCU and Kansas are the only NCAA schools to reach that feat the last 10 seasons. The Rams also made their 6th straight NCAA tournament, one of only 8 teams in the country to do so. VCU made it to the round of 32 where they fell to Oklahoma 85-81. Wade finished second in voting for A10 coach of the year.
It's also worth noting that he was an assistant at VCU prior to Chattanooga.

I think Kermit would do well at LSU, because he is an excellent in-game coach. His defense is confusing, and his matchup 1-3-1 zone with even better athletes would be fun to watch at LSU.
But I understand the lack of excitement. There are sexier, longer term hires out there.

getting Jacorey Williams to MTSU from Arkansas was a genius move.

It's not so much the 28 wins it's more about the 11 and 9 losses. That's 14-16 in a real conference and being Smarts assistant isn't anything to brag about. That's my whole point Smart was fools gold so now we want his less successful heir and assistant? Why?

Dude c'mon that can't be your example of great recruiting he wasn't even the head man. Ben Howland getting a top 5 class to Miss State that's recruiting.
