As far as taking Crean over Wade td all about resume and style. Crean has been doing it for 18 years and with the big boys a long time too. Wade has a lot of positives but there's just too much unknown. He took over for a coach who's flopped at a big school he hasn't surpassed or equaled that coaches success, he's never built a program and has never had special players (recruiting). Yes we can do worse and it's possible he could do great bit it's still the wrong hire.

To be fair, at Chattanooga, he took a team that went 24-40 the previous two years and went 40-25, with a 22-10 record his second year which was the best that program had seen in like 15 years.

He completely turned that program around. They were really bad.

Absolutely I wasn't clear I meant a real one. I know they're both considered mid majors but in college hoops teams like Gonzaga Whichita St types are players. They're mid majors but more like tweeters I guess is the word VCU would be in there Rhode Island Seaton Hall, that level. At least something of that size or influence is what I meant.

I am going to check with my neighbor that lives behind me. He is on some board at VCU.

He took what he was given - a sub-par team - and improved its record, drastically. He's also done very well at VCU. He deserves a shot at a bigger school. I don't know if I prefer him over Crean, or anyone else. I simply don't know. But, I'm fine w8th this hire if that's what happens. I simply don't understand the "he hasn't done anything" arguement, because it isn't true.

Wouldn't that mean that neither is like the other?

He's been coaching for 4 years Crean 18. Yes he turned UTC around but it's not like he had this 28-5 30-5 type season there, 22-10 is his best and only 20 win season there. Then he goes to VCU and is a caretaker for what Smart built, never exceeding or reaching Smarts success. It's just too much of an unknown for me when you have a Tom Crean there. Crean has won at two impressive places at a high level. He's gone to a final 4 he's won the big 10 (arguable the best conf) twice in the last 5 years. He's recruited multiple lottery picks (some national recruits) and he's coached the most efficient offense in the country without lottery type talent. To me their resumes side by side arnt even close.

Jimmy Ott just said that Wade is reaching out to some coaches for his assistants should he get the LSU job.

Seton Hall is in the Big East and is a major. Rhode Island is in the Atlantic 10 and is a mid-major.

I'd be thrilled with Will Wade. As good of a hire as I could have hoped for.

Big east isn't a major anymore. There are power 5s and mid-majors the big east is a mid-major now.
