I actually don’t trust him on this one. Reading the tea leaves, that relationship is strained and it seems to come largely from him not being Woody’s guy. Why in the world is Wade bringing up lack of hot water and holes in the ceiling of the practice facility in postgame press conferences if he and the AD are in good place?
If Woody doesn’t get an extension in place shortly after the season, it will be telling.
ETA. if it is the investigation that is keeping the extension from happening, then extend him on the same terms as revised in 2019.
It’s a joke that the winningest coach in the SEC over the last 3 years is coaching in the last 2 years of his original contract.

I like Woody and he’s done a great job so far. That said, he better not screw this up. There literally isn’t another coach in the country I’d trade Wade for right now.

These are very good points. Who honestly knows what the relationship is like between them. I do agree there is some cause for concern if he goes into next season without a new contract. I honestly don’t give a damn what the ncaa ruling ends up being. It won’t change anything for me on who LSU’s basketball coach should be.

Agree completely, very happy with what Scott has done. But he does have a history of wanting his guys in place.
Don’t let that get in the way of the guy who is building a program.
I don’t want to be where Tennessee is at now. Sure, Rick Barnes is a good coach, but he’s never going to be what Bruce Pearl would have been long term. Instead Tennessee has to watch him build a program at a school that didn’t know what basketball looked like until 10 years ago.

We’re in a good position right now as it relates to retaining Wade and getting a reasonable contract. Will Wade is going to be toxic to almost all schools that would have the resources to pay him more money. Think of how much negative press Wade gets now and imagine the shite storm that another school would have to think about going through if they hired him. The PR nightmare for most athletic directors would be enough to stay away.
Woodward will take care of the contract issues as long as there is nothing pending behind the scenes in the investigation. I think we are very lucky bc, excluding a new revelation in the investigation, we are about to sign one of the best coaches in the country to a very long contract.

You also have to figure WW got a list of whales that he’s sure he could bring here. He likes the admiration he gets for doing that. He’s in no hurry to extend Wade. Hope his ego doesn’t cost us WAde.

I don’t think woody is stupid enough to dislike wade. Woody knows a winning LSU team is more important than some pride and losing a hero like wade means his job is fricked if the next guy can’t win

LSU is the perfect place for him. LSU has become a place for elite coaches. Some were made before they got here. Some were or will be made while they were here.

I WOULD NOT want to be in Woodward's shoes if he fails to retain The General. See Joe alleva (vandy game). And it would be considerably worse now that Wade has us ROLLING as a program, especially on the recruiting trail.
