Will is an average X-and-Os coach and a great recruiter.

Will needs a stronger assistant staff. I thought his last few hires have been kinda weak.

so what happened from the TO to the execution? there is no question wade has taught them what to do in that situation, had a TO to remind them what to do and they still messed it up

It’s pretty simple, Chris Beard was sitting in the other huddle telling his guys exactly what we were about to do. Will got out coached there, plain and simple. And it cost us the game.

Totally agree and any sensible person and that knows basketball knows he falls short of being an elite coach. All most who are critical of him want is improvement. What makes his inequities glaring is that he is getting some of the top recruiting classes but losing in the same fashion as he lost when he first got here and had less talent.

You want to fire the coach that won the SEC and made the Sweet 16 two years ago, finished fourth in the SEC last year (got the NCAA taken away by Covid), and currently has LSU in sole second place in the SEC?

I don’t want him fired, this is a good argument, but how soon will this not be good enough anymore? Serious question. I think we need more coaching out of him, but I’m happy he’s brought us a long way in a relatively short time.

So? That’s not exactly easy. “Hey come so our school with a 60 year old stadium, minimum fan support and a spattering of final 4s.

what we were going to do could be drawn up by a middle school coach. the fact that we executed such a simple thing so poorly is pretty disheartening. inbounding versus M2M pressure is not a difficult concept, but you have to set a good screen, which we didnt do

there are three basic options
1. you have a guy so good he can defeat the denial and get open alone, you clear everyone out and let him work - we do not have that guy

2. you screen for your best FT shooter and he gets the ball for the ensuing foul - we tried to execute this and failed badly turning it over under our own basket, a cardinal sin

3. it was after a made basket so you run the double out of bounds pass and try to hit the original inbounder cutting up the court - we did not try this

what we were going to do is not hard to see, what we did do was awful execution

The fact of the matter is the goal of our program should be to make it to the NCAA tournament every year. Maybe that expectation can expand after several years of success but right now it shouldn't be to dominate Kentucky or be a top 10 team. it's disappointing for a team with as highly touted recruits to not be better but it isn't a fireable offense here IMO.

I'll rather watch a Wade team play than another LSU football team go 5-5.

How hard is it to teach how to inbound the ball? Specially in the last 3 minutes?

This is the problem I was talking about. Wade sycophants continually try to pit fans against other coaches. You clearly like Wade. That’s great. I’m happy for you; however, accept the fact that he is not perfect and has cost us several games with bad coaching. It has nothing to do with football or Ed Orgeron and to bring that up is nothing more than an attempt to deflect from Wade’s deficiencies.

Yes but we are a fundamentally very flawed basketball team.

Not trying to pit coachs against each other. This poster stated that Wade is shite and needed to be fired while stating that shite fans was clamoring for Orgeron's firing even though he just won a Championship. I was just trying to point out the irony of that statement to him. I'm not a Wade/Orgeron fan or hater, I'm a fan of who makes LSU better.

He does not get off the hook because he is young. He can either coach at this level and up to LSU expectations or he can not. Let him cut his teeth elsewhere.
the youth thing is just an excuse. He’s been coaching for 16 years, and he’s been a head coach for 8 years.

Dale’s second final Four team was not one that anybody would consider “full of talent”. That team got to the Final Four by doing three things: playing hard, playing smart and playing with pride. Something woefully lacking in Will Wade’s teams (so far).
