If he indeed intended to return, “Yes, I will be back at the University of Tennessee” is a very simple answer that would make his players and staff feel better about next season, but it was something he omitted. Why?

Because that answer would cost him a pile of money and paint him in to a corner

nah, coaches have always said that after the deal is already done, coaches are notorious liars and hypocrites, in general

The irony of that guy saying people in Louisiana talk with a twang.

My response was to LSU people who take anything he says as a negative.

A whole bunch of people read my post the wrong way.

“You know, I just made an idiot out of myself, at least for all the masculine folks watching, by getting teary-eyed about these kids, and that's where my focus has been,” Vitello said.

Could be said he's emotional about having coached his last game at UTk.

Could also have just earned an Academy Award Nomination for a Coach playing an AD/fanbase for a massive raise.

Ps Tony...Coonass girls are a lot more "fun" than East Tennessee hick girls.

So I'm certainly not gonna waste energy before a game or any other game having regrets that, you know, my mind wasn't right, or we weren't prepared the right way to go into whatever game it might be.”
