Very similar trajectory to Josh Rosen.

Josh Rosen:
10th overall pick
looked dreadful in rookie season
traded for a 2nd and 5th the next year

JJ McCarthy:
10th overall pick
got hurt in first preseason game-missed entire season as team goes 14-3
wins starting job 2nd season-shits bed
Doesn't even win 2nd string job his 3rd season
traded for a 5th round pick

Other top drafted QBs traded recently:
Zach Wilson 2nd overall in 2021, Traded 2024 for a 6th round pick
Trey Lance 3rd overall in 2021, Traded in 2023 for a 4th round pick
Justin Fields 11th overall in 2021, traded in 2024 for a 6th round pick

So from a 10th overall pick to being traded for a 5th rounder in 3 years. And most think it’s an overpay. Oooof!

Saints probably could have gotten a 3rd for Rattler or Zach Wilson.

Still a staggeringly dumb pick from a “qb guru”

I’m convinced the old GM must have made this pick.

After 15th overall Mac Jones proved to be a total bust with New England in three seasons, he was traded for a 6th round pick.

NFL GM's are awful at their jobs. This kid sucked in college and is complete dog shite in the NFL. fricking 98% of the people who follow college football knew this.

It’s come out more or less than kwefi (the old gm) made the pick and KOC was not for it. It’s a reason the old gm is gone and KOC is still there

They’re at least hedging their bet. If McCarthy looks good by some chance, they can flip JJ or dart for a second rounder.

Odds are they both suck arse

Mind-boggling, really. Even Michigan didn't trust him to throw much. It's crazy how often we see teams reaching for guys that have never shown anything

I'm guessing Jim and John Harbaugh had a discussion about this one lol

Maybe he told his brother the truth instead of the bullshite he said to get JJ overdrafted.

It’s clownish how overvalued rookie QBs are.
