And honestly he would leave a longer legacy as the career homerun leader than just another player who went pro early with a nice signing bonus then played in minors for 5-7 seasons and made it to double A and Triple A but never could quite catch on in the majors.

Everything described above he could still do after coming back for his final season. Thats the beauty of baseball and NIL.

He wouldn’t make that much more going pro early…so come back..get paid..set a historical record, leave a legacy and then go pro.

I saw a video of Jones walk off against UT from the left field bleachers on Facebook. Guy followed the ball all the way out. It was still rising when it crossed over the center fielders head. Farthest ball I’ve ever seen hit.

Edit: Here it is. LINK

Hope this works

I think almost everyone understands it. When Jones catches one everyone watching immediately bolts upright with eyes wide open. It looks different from almost all the other HRs.

It definitely looks different. The crazy part is how effortless he makes it look. He’s so nonchalant with his swing but then the ball comes off the bat like a fricking missile.

Brandon Larson, in the live bat era, could hit tape-measure shots

He hit 40 in ‘97, was at a midweek game that year and saw him hit one that to this day is the hardest hit baseball I’ve ever seen

I still remember watching that LSU-USC game in 2000 and seeing that monster 2nd shot by Hawpe. It was Mark Prior on the mound and I believe he talked shite to Hawpe on the first one. Think Hawpe had the final word!
