I’m torn. I love the song and love the chant (when it’s played at the right times), but I completely understand the hate for it
I’m 32 fwiw
I am completely fine with them playing it. IDGAF

Seriously, If only they could come up with a less vulgar chant.
I don't really want my elementary school age daughters chanting this at school because they hears it at a game
Or you could not be a frickin poontang and tell your kids,
"don't repeat what those crazy college kids are saying. They drank too many beers before the game"

Stomping Georgia and playing it repeatedly during the game is what flipped Emery. That was some entertaining shite that day.
If anyone is bringing their 12 yo daughter to that game they deserve what they hear. As do the private school administrators on Monday.
I also think it’s safe to say that if I haven’t raised my kids to know better, that’s on me as a parent.

I used to feel the same way. But here are the facts: no matter how much you monitor the music, tv and movies your children are exposed to, they will be exposed by friends at school.
My son is now 12 and I’ve started asking if he knows one song or another and he knows every unedited word (doesn’t say those words to me, though). I asked how he knows and he says it’s played on friends’ phones at lunch, before/after school, etc. He is a well-mannered, straight A student in a high performing school in an upper middle class environment.
Bottom line is you can’t expect public spaces to parent your children. That’s your job. It’s not a bad thing if they are exposed to bad influences while you are there to discuss why such words or behaviors don’t meet your family values and how it can impact their life if they choose to emulate those things. Being a parent isn’t raising your child in a bubble. It’s parenting in and for the real world. Just my new perspective.

Neck is gay and should only be performed by its fans at the Middleton bathroom.

The song would not be nearly as good without the chant. The chant is what makes it, why do you think it literally pumps up our crowd and players? Not because of the tune, because of the chant.
actually, the song was quite popular and got crowd going back before the chant.
YOUTUBE from 2007
it’s like Pre-Game, Calling Baton Rouge, etc.
when it’s played the crowd gets into it.
with or without the chant.

I would really hate to get that call from their christian private school,
I can guarantee you they are hearing worst things than STTDB at school. Middle school kids say some crazy shite when no adults are present.

I think the whole Neck thing is a nonissue. Vulgar language is heard at every football game between fan bases from High School up. The very young will be oblivious. And preteens will have experienced it already. If you’re bringing children in that midrange of approximately 6-11 the this is your teaching opportunity. I expect college kids to do college crap.
Finally I have absolutely no sympathy for TV. Just like they don’t show morons running on the field, all they have to do is stop the on field sound. The timing of the STTDB portion of neck is extremely predictable, overdub it.
Finally if the goal is to eliminate the STTDB then pass the penalty down. SEC penalizes LSU, then LSU penalizes students. Divide the fine by student tickets and put a refundable surcharge on them. Chant costs LSU nothing. Don’t chant and get your money back for the game.

Negative ghost rider. Neck is part of LSU history & legend. If the band plays it after a 10 year hiatus, the chant will be loud as ever. Period.
Posted on 7/17/19 at 8:19 am to Byrdybyrd05
The most egregious part is the idiot students singing it at the wrong time.

That’s just wrong. It was very popular before it had any words at all.

Since this chant was birthed, it’s gone from vulgar to non-inclusive. It’s so sis-gender !
Did I do that right ?

Agree 100%.
I have taught my son at a young age the difference between “camp words”, and what can be said at home (IE in front of mom and sister). He fully understands this.
The very first time i brought him to a Saints game, the guy next to me started, “...f.....motherf....”. He looked at me and apologized for it. Now he is a grown up that paid for his ticket. How can i correct hm?
Bottom line is that kids will hear this stuff, or learn this stuff with or without you. It is always better to take it on personally so you can control it as best you can.
The other side of the coin is that too many people need to stop being man-ginas.
ETA. I love hearing the crowd get going when this is played!!

Something like..."take that Tiger L bitch"
The L fits with LSU and everyone throwing up the L sign during recruiting, etc
