It's a student loan. They are subsidized by the government and are need based. They are also non-dischargeable in bankruptcy so a co-sign is irrelevant.

TM7 coudl easily take out a student loan.

...and if he could get his act together, stay in shape, and return even remotely like the player he was last season, he will be able to pay it back easily.

It's a student loan. Someone with no collateral and a credit score in the 200's can get a student loan for in state tuition.

you're not familiar with financial aid

also, he could probably get a loan from a bank in BR. i know lebron's mom got one when he was in HS just based on his potential. she bought him a hummer w/ rims

But it seems unlikely that he could afford the tuition for the 1 year without a scholly.

Come on brah we got people that take care of shite like that

Do his parents not work? The kid went to St. Aug for Christ's sake, that isn't exactly free.

If they don't work and he doesn't have any money, there are certainly grants available. Why this is a concern is beyond me.

TM - This would be the best thing for you now and in the long run. Stay at LSU and focus on being a student. Prove yourself through hard work. Maintain your physical status but focus on school. Join another school organization to keep you focused on what is right.

This would demonstrate integrity and character and those attributes go along way, even more so than a heisman trophy or other top honors you've received for your play on the field.

You can do it! I really do feel like you guys are part of our family. These are the recommendations I would offer my son, my nephew, my best friends kids.

It is your choice. Have faith and keep the lord in mind with all your decisions.

You are and will forever be a Tiger.

So if a redshirt isn't given since he's not on the team would he still be eligible for two more years?

I think he loses a year of eligibility and comes back with one year left. But I'm not sure.

If no redshirt is given

You have 5 to play 4, any season you don't compete can be used as a redshirt year. The only way it is lost is if it is due to an NCAA suspension (Robbie Green - Alabama). Technically Josh Booty's redshirt year was spent playing in the minors for the Marlins.

Gotcha. Thx. But not sure if Honey Badger would be elligible for something like that. Interesting...Just thinking the team violations may have f-ed all that up.

depends on the type of student loan you guys are talking about. Federal or private. Federal is based on need but often doesn't cover everything. Maybe for him, not sure on his parents financial situation, it would cover everything.

Alleva said it wasn't realistic for a reason.

The KAs should recruit him to be on their intramural flag football team. He would be the baddest flag football player ever at LSU.

Can redshirts be given "after the fact"...?

For example, can he go to LSU, pay his own way.....and then if he meets all the requirement Miles and LSU lay out for him, they say in Summer 2013, "ok, you did what we asked...You're back on the team and 2012 was your redshirt year."

Not that it matters, because there's no doubt in my mind he would go pro after the 2013 season anyway.

Technically I think he's got to be a part of the team in order to receive a RS. He isn't currently.

5 years to play 4. Doesn't matter when you take the redshirt. LSU senior baseball player Matt Gaudet redshirted his senior year because LSU had no room for him in the lineup. He came back after a year off and was the starting DH.

Doesn't matter about what school you are attending. Some players transfer, are forced to sit out a year, but use their redshirt year during the year they are forced to sit out and still play ball for 4 years.
