Upcoming coaching hires according to Dellenger

Sullivan, the longtime NFL receivers coach, will be elevated to a senior offensive assistant position with an expected title of pass game coordinator. McMahon will serve as special teams coordinator,
Is it just me, or is this one of the more convoluted set of roles and positions you've seen on a coaching staff?
quote:
Sullivan, 73, will work more with the outside receivers, while Mickey Joseph concentrates his attention on the inside/slot wideouts. Sullivan and Joseph will coach tight ends when they are a part of the passing game. New offensive line coach James Cregg and offensive line assistant John Decoster are expected to handle the position group for run-game purposes.
So TE are going to have multiple position coaches, and if a WR is being cross trained at 2 spots, he'll have different coaches as well?

There’s no need to be outraged if you don’t know exactly what’s going on

I think this is the most apathetic I’ve ever felt regarding LSU football. Alleva and Orgeron have killed my ability to enjoy it.
I honestly don’t care who they hire anymore. I won’t be attending another sporting event while this staff and this AD are employed by LSU

I'm not outraged, I've just personally never noticed outside and inside WR coaches on the same CFB team. Is that more common than I think?

Can we be outraged that we don't know what O wants to do because he doesn't know what goin on

Putting a 73 year old WR coach on staff is dumb. Making him the pass game coordinator is something so dumb only oregeron would do it.
Between those 3 and Joseph we have 4 guys on staff who would never get hired by any other SEC team.
This is outright embarrassing
Edit: so O has a TE coach and 2 WR coaches in charge of the passing game.
If there was one position on the team that hasn't been well developed over the years, what would you say it was?
Follow up: has oregeron hired a coach for that?

Don't want it to look like Mickey has been demoted.

It's common for a lot of air raid teams that routinely play 4 WR sets.

Well that describes Ensminger's offenses to the T

I may be asking a dumb question, but what exactly is Steve's offense?

Man you are really taking this hard. Maybe a friend will die and that might cheer you up a bit.

No dumber than have ILB and OLB coaches, or CB and S coaches.
Those exist on multiple teams. Hell, we may have CB and S coaches this year.

Sullivan is old, no doubt. Pete Jenkins was 76 and I think most were glad he coached up the DL. Sullivan is not of Jenkins' legendary status, but he has solid experience and was coaching WRs in the NFL as late as 2016 before consulting with LSU so we didn't bring him in from the nursing home to coach.
Kansas State (WR) (1971–1972)
Texas Tech (WR) (1973–1975)
South Carolina (WR) (1976–1982)
Indiana (Assistant) (1983)
LSU (WR) (1984–1990)
Ohio State (WR) (1991)
San Diego Chargers (WR) (1992–1996)
Detroit Lions (WR) (1997–2000)
Arizona Cardinals (WR) (2001–2002)
Arizona Cardinals (OC) (2003)
Miami Dolphins (WR) (2004)
San Francisco 49ers (WR) (2005–2010)
Jacksonville Jaguars (WR) (2012–2016)
LSU (Consultant) (2017)
Now Joseph needs to be moved to team janitor. He brings nothing to the team in terms of coaching or recruiting.

I don't want Sullivan because he may be a liability in recruiting. But the guy is a stud coach and anyone who says otherwise is a dishonest hack.

Things went great under his "advisor" role. Guess he really earned that promotion.

meh I've always thought TE should be handled like that....
then there's finding joseph a small role because he's so fricking useless but you need someone to pick up the slack for sullivan on the recruiting trail....that I do not like

Jenkins was always seen as a one year coach, a legend stepping in to help LSU get their feet under them.
No one expected this shite to become a habit. O had all the time in the world to find a good WR coach, and he chose one who is simply to old to be any use whatsoever on the recruiting trail.
The WR is often a staffs ace. We have two and they both suck.
We can't afford that, not in the SEC. Louisiana is stacked next year, we are gonna get raided, and there's no one to blame for that but orgeron

I know you like to defend O and be an overall contrarian, but this is one of the dumbest things you've ever posted.

in a 3-4 scheme, these are VERY different positions. hell just the bench and field OLB positions are vastly different from one another.
quote:
or CB and S coaches.
Again, very different. Different techniques, different responsibilities.
The differences between slot and WR are minuscule compared to the others.
