Unfortunately, the media and majority of other fans will place an asterisk on this season

Regardless of what happens (has happened) in the courts.
Lsu can't back down now, but in the media and other (non LSU ) fans eyes every win this season will have an asterisk until the final higher court ruling and appeals are all finished. Even then, this team will always be known as the team that had "NFL players" (even if that's not exactly true)
The SEC can't back down because they will lose face and gut their authority

In that case most power 4 teams will have an asterisk by their name pretty much every season until something is changed. LSU is not the only team doing this buddy. Hate to burst your bubble here.

They already have asterisks on 1908, 2003, 2008 (two loss champion), and have zero sympathy for 2011. I couldn’t care less what they think about 2026 if we win the title.

We all know now that if we're a 2 loss bubble team, the playoff selection committee will not pick us over anyone else.
What will be fun to watch will them to pick another team, and dismiss their loss to LSU as not mattering because "LSU played with NFL players".
