Did something happen to Miles? Is it because they tried to work on the passing game and couldn't? This was the easiest part of the schedule. How did an offense returning 9 starter regress so badly?

Was Miles trying to fix things for the meat of the schedule and that is why the offense couldn't find a rythmn?

Seriously. This offense is MUCH worse than last year. With just average play, this team is 4-0.

Why so much worse?

IMO, Miles tried to coach harder than ever before and got his fingerprints over every position unit on offense. It just reeks of Miles trying to over coach.

I have more rhythm than this offense.

Well, the O-Line just hasn't performed and the uncertainty on whose role is whose hurt them more.

Couple that with LF's ankle.

Then add in Les' stubborn insistence to put a square peg in a round hole and focus on a running game with a mediocre O Line and a nicked RB.

There you have it.

Yeah, but we threw it more in those 4 games than past years. It seems like they were trying to throw the ball and could not get things going.

Maybe, but I think it might be the opposite. I think he's lost some excitement out there and hasn't displayed that killer instinct like he has in the past.

Maybe the pressure was getting to him so he said "frick it". I don't know, but he just hasn't looked the same to me in awhile.

I think Mile's tenure here got really stale. He used to be called "The Mad Hatter" when he took chances......see the classic game vs Florida. Now he's just "The Hatter" with a vanilla offense and an undeveloped QB. Great man but a very stubborn coach who lost his job because he would not change.

With a very disappointing offensive effort, not helped by several key injuries, this team still came within a pitiful Harris interception and another clock melt-down of being 4-0 right now and rocking right along with "Lucky Les". Amazing. Agree that with just average QB play and execution this team could win 6 or 7 more games this season, including a bowl.

Talent means little when execution is poor. See Wisconsin, which is a team everyone said we would beat based on talent. They are fundamentally sound and execute at a very high level.

This team has been sloppy and lazy. Walking on and off the field, walking in and out of huddles and walking to the LOS with no sense of urgency. Complacency set in for Les and it affected the team. I have hope that a shot of energy from Coach O and changing some things up will do wonders for this team.

The offense may not change much this week, but there could be a few wrinkles and potentially we could see some of our young talent get more involved in the playcalling.

Square peg, round hole. THE single most overused expression of the brainless here at Tard central. It was semi ok for the first 5000 times it was used. When it hit the 100,000 mark, you've officially become brain dead Tards incapable of having an original thought.

Suppose a "rocket scientist" that helped land a man on the moon as an OUTSTANDING scientist stayed exactly where he was insofar as knowledge, approach, etc.

That dude, once the leading authority, walking into the SpaceX control room today would be of very little use.

It is not that the dude wouldn't WANT to help or that he was suddenly "dumb". It is simply that the TECH passed him by and he did not adapt to today's computers, etc. If he is told that he "has to get his calculations out faster"...he wouldn't suddenly be able to operate the computers. He would try HARD to use that slide-rule faster and use his LED calculator that doesn't even have trig functions to help with his hand calculations.

He was just passed by. It was his fault for not keeping up with the changes. But, nothing more he can add.

Now, make that guy the Manager and he forces the guys who DO understand the computer tech of today to use slide-rules...and he gots to go.

A bad offensive system with injuries and bad OL play, with poor QB play, and dropped balls by WRs.

Pretty much everyone on the offensive side of the ball has failed to some degree on offense through 4 games. They all need to improve. Just changing coaches and calling new plays isn't going to automatically generate 500yds and 40pts a game.

I was thinking even under Miles, we wouldn't really be tested until UF. I could not have been more wrong...

This is the main difference I've noticed from this season to seasons from a few years ago. Things look much more lazy. From the attitude of the head coach on down to the players.

I've said this before, but when you watch Miles interviews going into this season and after the first game especially, it's like he knew he was a dead man walking.
