I graduated that semester
Camped out all night for gameday on the pmac ramps. Some dude stole an uga flag amd burned it around 200 am, lsu cops were telling folks to "please not destroy anything"
What a night.
I paid the price. I lost my voice and counldnt even yell for pregame.

One of my fav games to be at. LSU holding a 10-3 lead and UGA ties it up 10-10 on a 93 yard screen pass.
TV doesn't do this game justice because after that miraculous 93 yard TD to tie the game up - the crowd shook it off and chanted L-S-U the ENTIRE TV timeout. Brook trout look? frick that. Geaux Tigers!
That game right there, more than any other, I think changed the culture of LSU to expect to win - fans, players, coaches, etc. UGA was expected to be a juggernaut that year and made the SECCG. In which LSU fricking rolled them to emphasize it wasn't a mistake. It started the expectations we have now.

Same.
The crowd was amazing that day. Especially after UGA scored their long TD.

Most people point to Tennessee 2000, but to me this is the game that started our modern day run. Nick coached a hell of a team that year .

Well said sir. I completely agree. I was lucky enough to be at both those UGA games and the LSU chant was epic. One of the greatest and proudest moments I've ever had at our fans and the atmosphere. You could tell the players bought in to what the crowd was believing in.
They had no doubt they were going to take care of us in Atlanta and Justin Vincent went off. And then there was a new chant after OU got drubbed by Kansas St. "LSU, USC, Oklahoma #3." Two great moments from a great year

I remember fondly those days. That was when the LSU program was on the rise after several years of losing or mediocrity and the fans relished every victory. It was exciting times.
Today? The fans are spoiled. A decade of winning will do that. Leave at the half to beat the traffic, get some dinner, or go partying. Sadly it will take a few years of losing and a couple of coaches to get the excitement back in Tiger Stadium on a CONSISTENT basis.

This. It was incredible to hear after such a punch to the gut.
I remember shouting "HE'S OPEN!" when I saw Skyler break free with the ball in the air. Not even sure I actually saw him catch it since everyone instantly went bonkers.
Took me a few days to get my voice back after that one.

That was such a great game and atmosphere. Wasn't Gameday on the PMAC ramp for this one?
I forgot about the disastrous Shockley series, that was a blast. (Like Arizona a few years later.) You really couldn't hang your head after that screen pass, it was just an awesome play. But I'm glad the crowd could rally around a tied score. If they went up 3 or 7 on that late TD, it would have been crushing. The Skyler Green touchdown is burned into my memory from my view of the field.
I hope the Auburn game this year is reminiscent of that. Early in the season, high expectations, 2:30. We'll see.
That was so surreal.

I wish I could've been at that game. I was living in Florida at the time. I remember calling dad on my way home from work and he told me all about it. Said it was awesome.

Sure was. Such an awesome scene. I like it way better than the Parade Ground.

I went to that game as well as the SEC championship game back in 2003.I was six. I'll never forget that game as I could barely see over the crowd and had to stand on the bleachers. I was supposed to go to the national championship game that year but my mom took that ticket. I was pissed cause I knew she just wouldn't appreciate it.Those were the days. I will be heading up to LSU this fall.

Nicely said. Was my senior year and one of the greatest years of my life.
