And his education? I don’t buy this “mama/grandma saga”

Well I guess that settles it then. Finishing another year in school is not very important if your other option is getting paid millions of dollars.

To everybody saying “they could’ve struggled one more year” what if Tyrus didn’t want to see his grandmother have to struggle anymore?

He probably would’ve left either way, it’s life changing money. But it goes to show how much he loves and cares for the university, and that’s what we should all be talking about.

He was a helluva player, hypothetically would’ve loved to have seen him in a Kerr warriors type of offense.

I'm not naive enough to think high-caliber players weren't stumbling upon anonymous brown bags back then.

I know the guy that used to pay Anthony Randolph a "salary" each week for "working" at his business

It wasn't 100k a year, but it was like 1k a week. Cash.

Randolph would go hang out at his office for the optics of actually working sometimes and just play on his phone.

I remember John Williams when he came back for a reunion of the 86 Final Four team saying how much he regretted leaving and if he had it to do over he would have stayed - he even apologized to all his teammates, the 87 team came a point away from beating Indiana to go to Final Four which would was played in New Orleans that year.

I met him a couple of times while he was at LSU. Seemed like a likable guy. Very approachable and always smiling and laughing. I believe him. But financially he made the best decision for his family.

As much as he wanted to stay in school and play college ball, moving on to the NBA was the right decision and it's not even close.

Interesting, I remember seeing him at that Burger King in a brand new BMW 5 series one time during school hours. I know that’s not $100k, but these guys got some benefits

Ok so what if he gets a career ending injury by coming back? Look at the Florida State QB. Lost his dream of the NFL messing around in college. You are betting on health by doing that. Its way too much of a risk for someone's career. Some of yall don't take the P&G shades off and see the big picture. And its concerning. The big leagues are these kids dream. Their posters on their walls growing up....wasnt of colleges i can promise you that.

When I was a freshman in highschool, went to the game against Tennessee in 2006. I remember him catching a lob to this day, I had never seen anyone get up like that in my life.

.......had he stayed in school he woulda been fed, clothing and housing provided.

His draft stock could have also declined due to a slide in play or injury. When you're getting drafted in the top 5 you pounce on it when you get the chance because no guarantee such an offer will be there later.

I will grant you this is true and there's been a lot of cases of too many hands in the cookie jar when someone makes it to the big leagues and gets a paycheck and they get stretched too thin trying to help every aunt, uncle and distant cousin. That said, it isn't a bad character trait to care about your family, have empathy, and want to help lift them up and take the chance to do so when it's offered. He mentioned Noah going back to Florida, his family was already well off so there wasn't any urgency to chase a bag. I don't think he stays at Florida if his dad wasn't a world famous tennis pro and had a similar family situation to Tyrus

I walked into Tractor Supply in Zachary not too long ago. Crazy enough the first person I see towering over the whole store is TT. Boots and all. Apparently has a farm out that way.

Tyrus is a good dude. He wouldn't remember meeting me but I remember how down to earth he was when I met him. One of the good guys.
