Do you care what outfielder catches a fly ball? I think its important when calling baseball to relay that type of info.

No i really don't. I may be different but I've never listened to a broadcast of a game on the radio and been upset because a guy didn't say exactly where the ball was hit. To me if this bothers you then you are looking for something to bother you. Is it an out or a hit is all i really care about. Also fly balls you have a lot more time to process where it is hit and who is fielding it than a ground ball which can be pretty quick.

I don't care when PBP guys mess up. They will all make mistakes. I just think JH received unfair criticism on this board for as good as he was as a PBP guy.

I can agree with you on this for sure. He didn't like doing baseball late in his career and I think that you could tell over his broadcast. His calling of basketball is very good and that is not an easy sport to call. He made some mistakes and one huge one in one of the biggest plays in history and people have latched on to that. That is the nature of this board take a rare mistake from a critical spot and make it seem like it is the norm.

Yep. Jim has a shite load of calls under his belt and yet the idiots will still harp on the mistakes he made along the way. That's what internet fans do these days I guess.

Good voice but he's vague at letting listeners know what's happening at the plate.

I would like to know what needs to happend to get the game on the radio in the Alexandria market. More than twice, including game one on Saturday, it has been unavailable on the FM or either AM stations. The few games we have been able to get have been on AM and have been terrible reception.

I like Blair.

I miss Hannagriff as the color guy. Thompson knows the game but has been hit and miss, IMO.

That's what the color guy is there for, to discuss pitch selection, sequence, strategy, etc. One of Hawthorne's biggest faults was attempting to sound like he knew what he was talking about.

In Jim's defense, GeauxZone was the worst thing that could have happened to him because anyone watching could see how often he was wrong when he attempted to go into more detail.

When things are not going great he doesn't have the negativity that Hawthorne did. I love Hawthorne but he sounds so disgusted sometimes. He also constantly complained about the length of baseball games and some of the rules.

This. Some call it "passion", but it is possible to be passionate without whining. I listened to JH's radio broadcasts (in any sport) only if absolutely necessary due to his incessant griping and negativity.

I have never seen a fan be joyful when their team is sucking it up or calls are going against them. I have also never heard PBP guys not get frustrated when the team they call for is playing bad or getting hosed...I think I would hate hearing a PBP guy get excited or not show any negativity towards an opponent hitting a hr

Growing up with John Ferguson was special. Jim & John had distinctive voices.

Chris will grow into the job. But the previous two set the bar awful high.
