i don't think people realize how talened "generic" MLB play by play guys are.

as for not being into LSU, someone posted a pic of him during the rally the other night, both he and doug thompson had their rally caps on. Seems pretty invested to me

Grew up listening to Hawthorne... Got used to listening to him call games, and it was weird hearing another voice call LSU games. That being said, we got a damn good replacement. Blair is top notch and his voice/call for the baseball games have been great. Paints a good picture and easy to listen to while doing other tasks. Those who don't like him are the people who bitch, just to bitch.

Great voice. Almost too good though, seems like you are listening to a generic major league play by play guy.

My thoughts exactly. During the hiring process I thought LSU was trying to find someone who was a great announcer, but had a voice unique enough to where you would know immediately that you were tuned in to an LSU game.

so when you turn the radio on to 98.1 during a game, you don't know that you're listening to LSU?

I think I figured out your problem, you might be an idiot.

Could have sworn I had tuned into Welles' War of the Worlds Saturday until I heard this mysterious voice reference Alex Box Stadium.

Like it or not, that was what they mentioned over and over during the search. Lsu2006/elleshoe don't chime in. You add nothing to conversations.

What? I said he is fantastic and highly professional and I believe he is a massive upgrade from Hawthorne - at least when it comes to baseball. You live in a perpetual state of butthurt over my posts. Kinda bizarre. Get over it.

I like his voice and calls a lot.
I do wish he would speed up his cadence a small bit.

May not be a Jack Hunt moment, but I find Chris is flubbing things just as much as Jim. Saturday night, for example, we take the lead, Chris states the game is tied. Then blames the scoreboard. Little things like that I've noticed.

It's obvious he isn't homegrown, and at this point, I like his style, but not his lack of connection. It's a little too apparent.

Blair is an obvious upgrade over Hawthorne to me, but I think Thompson has a long way to go to make the broadcast even better.

I am a big fan. He delivers information quickly and concisely. Nice sounding voice. Definitely a pro.

call me crazy, but if I'm listening to a game on the radio, I'd rather know what the frick is going on over a a senile, grumpy old man botching calls left and right but "bleeds purple and gold baw"

Those two things aren't mutually exclusive.

To be fair, I've only listened to the broadcast so far for a total of about 30 minutes...but my initial opinion is that he's very polished...but that the broadcast is very impersonal.

I realize that he's just getting started. And, that he's going to only get better and better. Somebody in the booth like Ben McDonald would help him a lot, IMO.

I am blanking with the name of who took Thompson's place during the week but that was an outstanding call between Blair and him. Game updates, info, mixed in with a good call of the game.
