Twas the Night Before Gameday, ‘Rona Edition

Twas the night before game day, And 15-0,
Still shone on the big screen,With a beautiful glow,
The Heisman and Natty secure on a shelf,
But not sat on Saban’s, that angry old elf,
Coach O dreamed of Gumbo, and whooping the Dogs,
And Tigers snored loudly, like the sawing of logs,
The season was here, though it felt like a dream,
And no one could top what occurred in 19’,
But no fans were parked in the lots with RVs,
Thanks to fears of corona, and inept JBE,
Just a few months ago, many doubted we’d play,
They had given up hope, that we’d come to this day,
Negas thought that we’d fold, like the feckless Big 10,
And the PAC 12 who thought, all the rest would give in,
But the South didn’t bow down to clutching their purse,
All the storms that we’ve weathered, times that have been worse,
SEC they stood strong, then the East and Midwest,
And in time of great trouble they hoped for the best,
Cause the world didn’t end, with a virus from China,
And times like these take balls, not a weepy vagina,
And so we planned for football, and wouldn’t back down,
Now the Big 10’s caved in, for they looked like a clown,
Though the stands won’t be filled, and the campus is bare,
Still the sound of folks cheering, will ring through the air,
As we’re gathered with friends, watching it on TV,
The spirit of football, lives in you and in me,
And so don’t be disheartened, for we’ll tailgate again,
‘Fore the season is over, we’ll be drinking with friends,
For this year may be different, and times may be strange,
But we’ll get back to normal, and the nonsense will change,
So just keep up the faith, raise a glass in the air,
Make a toast to those playing, even if we aren’t there,
And let’s get back that magic, that we feel in the fall,
Losers cry ‘bout The ‘Rona, but the winners Play Ball.
One Team, One Heartbeat, GEAUX TIGERS!!!
