They also had a tremendous amount of leadership, where it seems that this team has none. I think it shows.

Sorry

You don't get the defensive performance we had yesterday without leadership

So your claim that the leadership on this team is "none" is fricking stupid.

Were both TD's scored when Minter was out?

And the 2003 squad also put up 49 points in 1 half against La tech. The 2003 squad would murder this team.

Think big picture. I'm talking team leadership. You had a balance of team leadership on the 03 team. The entire team just had it. Lavalais, Spears, Hill, Hunt. Mauck, Clayton, Peterman, etc. just a special group of players.

If you can't see the differences between the 03' and 12' team then really you have no business telling someone else that what they say is fricking stupid. Because clearly you have your own issues.

LSU had, IMO, the best QB of the decade...I know I'll get skinned for saying that but it's my opinion

I don't know, looking more like the last time we played Washington at home, 83. Blew Washington out, thought we were good and struggled the rest of the way.

If I recall, much of this overt leadership manifested AFTER they rolled through Carolina and an identity formed..

This team has the personnel and the colorful personalities to match this...

Sometimes it takes a loss to bring this out. You do NOT know for sure - the OP is only talking about the possibilities...

Therefore, I am just going to support the team and see how far they will go..

We were coming off a big last second Georgia win, and were flat the next week against a rebuilding Florida team with a freshman qb.

That's not what happened at all. LSU beat State then had a bye week... Saban's team was flat out of the bye week.. Like they usually are.

This team is nowhere near as good as 2003 team.

I was thinking of that game just this morning. LSU looked just as awful as yesterday.

OP is looking for hope. His comparison has merit. We won't know if it's for real until after (or during, to be more accurate) the USCe game.
Going a little far to say its a silly comparison. I for one hope he is right.

That 2003 squad wouldn't score more than 17 points on the 2012 defense

Yes

You are right

It's not like we blew UGA out the water in round 1

It was a slug fest in which we were statistically dominated and came out with a W

We were terrible against UF and then we righted the ship

It's not like we haven't had success though

We've weathered some tough storms here at LSU under Miles. 2008 was really the only subpar season and it's because we had no QB and the Malleveto disaster

Seems like you guys have memories that are based mostly on fiction

The truth about the 2003 LSU squad before the LSU loss

1. We were an average team offensively that beat up on a very poor MSU team (seriously, have you guys forgotten how terrible MSU was in the early 2000s?, they were far inferior to the UW team we beat up on)

2. Everyone remembers Broussard and Vincent leading the charge in our rushing game

The truth is that through the UF game our running game featured Shyrone Carey and Addai

It wasn't until after the UF loss that we found our identity as a championship caliber offense against USCe on the road.

Yeah, our OL was better that year. But our QB probably wasn't as good. Mauck was terrible in big games. He is legend because he was QB on a NC team. But that legend is largely myth.
