Lol, so false it's not funny.
If I have to accept a loss, I'd rather lose to the Big-10's Rose Bowl participant than to Troy.
We legitimately beat Auburn last year. SEC clock operators are out-of-control and Steve Shaw needs to do something to ensure that the rules that govern the clock are adhered to in close games when the home team has a lead.
If we officially get credit for the Auburn win last year - the first of many gritty Etling performances where he leads the team to victory on the final drive - I think we beat Florida because Miles is never fired (and Miles owned Florida) and wind up in the Sugar Bowl.
This season, I seriously doubt we lose to Troy or Moo State with Les as HC, and go into the Auburn game undefeated. No way to know if we win that one with Les as coach, but he never lost to Auburn at home his entire tenure here so it's not a stretch to think we'd be 7-0 had Les not been fired.
So to answer OP's question, we were better pisitioned to make a run last year prior to loss #3 than we are this year.
Our inability to run between the tackles may cost us the A&M game this year. If it does, we're 8-4 at best barring a miracle in Tuscaloosa.

Are we though?
Opposing teams always seem to know when our RBs are getting the ball and which way they're going with it.
Young OL may be part of it, but both Williams and Guice averaging half of their career YPC would seem to suggest some elements of the offense are as predictable if not more.
I mean, we have to run PA passes and jet sweeps to 6'6" WRs on the goalline because we can't run effectively between the tackles.

I have zero confidence in us beating Bama - also not the case last year.
Not to be a nega or anything because I like how O has turned things around thus far but this team is going to get absolutely destroyed by Bama this year for the simple fact that we cant control the lines. I would be surprised if we get a field goal on the board. The D will be on the field the whole game

We're a Florida missed PAT and and a Culp PAT that hit post and went in from going to OT and both our wins and who knows what happens.
I'm glad we won them both. Thrilled we won. But our only two convincing performances have come agains two of the worst teams in all of CFB.
Think we need to see us be convincing at against a decent team before we have a ton of confidence long term

False .. losses to Wisconsin and auburn last year didn't look nor hurt us nearly as bad
Yep it's false. Right now we are teetering on the edge of maybe good, or riding emotion. Last year at this same time, we had just bludgeoned two opponents 87-17 with our only losses coming to top 10 Wisconsin in Wisconsin, and a 5 point loss to Auburn (which was inches from being a win).
The only team LSU really scored on much offensively this year was Chattanooga.

LSU looked inept on only one side of the ball last year in literally any game. They've looked bad in multiple games so far, lost to two teams way worse than last year, beat a bad UF team and a good Auburn team.
LSU lost two games last year by a combined 7 points last year to a team that was in the Big 10 Championship game and another SEC team on the road and the other a team ranked at the end of the season.
LSU lost two a mediocre MSU team that will likely max out at 7 wins if they are lucky, and freaking Troy.
Are you really comparing them to each other? LSU is in a far worse position this year because their leadership is still bad and they have a lot more holes on this team.

False.
More youth. Less experience.
On the road against a currently undefeated Alabama team that will be sharp and prepared.
Don't get me wrong, on any given Saturday and all that, but this team is in worse shape going into 'Bama than they were last year.

No one knows from week to week if LSU will beat a top 10 team or lose to a Sunbelt team.

False. That team was loaded

I agree. We got robbed by the clock operator.

I agree with this as well, but Auburn got screwed out of a few seconds last week on their last possession. After a first down (with around 30 seconds or so left) the clock never stopped for the officials to allow the chain gang to get set.
I laughed about it after what happened last year at Auburn, but the clock should have stopped.

False- the teams they lost this are lousy

So you think getting hammered by Mississippi State and losing to Sunbelt Troy at home is better than losing to Wisconsin and Auburn both on the road? I can’t buy into that, but each to our own.

Our QB is not at a level to beat a team like Alabama. This is not a knock on Etling as the guy plays his guts out but it is still not enough.

false in the short run. I don't think this team is as good as last years.
however, I think we have finally turned the corner from Miles and we have a chance to be in better shape. there's a lot about the direction of this team that I like and I haven't felt that way in a few years. can O do what needs to be done to keep it going up? remains to be seen. imo, he can't recruit worse on the los than miles did but he needs to up that game a lot.

False.
Dysfunctional structure. HC cedes control of offense and defense to Coordinators.
An unprecedented meeting with AD, HC and Coordinators.
A former player reports on radio that O and Canada are at each other’s throats.
We are much further from a return to championship football than a year ago.

So if we win this one convincingly....will you quit with the Debby Downer BS? At least for one week............

recruiting is not looking great
That depends largely on how the team finishes the season. If the Tigers finish strong at 9-3 and gets a nice bowl game win the program will once again become a recruit magnet.
