Had Saban never left LSU, his 7 total titles are all at LSU.

T or F?

Idk. Our compliance dept would’ve for sure kicked Cam Robinson off the team and probably a few more that went unpunished at Alabama

Sucks to think about this. LSU would
have been so crazy good every year.

Go talk to Skip "I'm not going to get in a bidding war with the Miami Dolphins over Nick Saban" Bertman.

Bertman made little effort to keep Saban at LSU. He basically just rolled over and played dead a la Alleva with Tom Herman.

LSU has never fully recovered from Skip being cheap with Nick........

False- 1. LSU admins have proven over the years they are not totally committed to winning. 2. He was always going to test the NFL.

That was a war Skip was never going to win. He was right.

Saban at the time thought he wanted to coach in the NFL.

Where Skip went wrong was hiring Les Miles. Skip said he had young kids and Miles would stay and Skip would not have to do this again in 2 or 3 years.

That should never be a reason to hire a coach. If they are good, others will want him. That is a good thing.

this 100% would've happened IF he had no previous designs on the NFL again. if he had been an NFL HC before he got to Michigan State or LSU, then he would have stayed.

but, since he hadn't been an NFL HC to that point, LSU was "always" going to lose him. Now, could LSU have fought for maybe 1-3 more years before he left? Absolutely. And we should have (not just saying that as hindsight-LSU needed to be smart enough to recognize what they had at that point in time, which was an actual chance to get another title or 2 within 1-3 seasons with Saban at the helm).

I FULLY understand you can't replace a coach who just won a natty.

With that being said (if the rumors are true), we should have replaced Les with Saban the MILLISECOND he showed an interest in returning to BR. Sometimes you have to make the out of the box decisions, no matter how radical they are, if they are the correct ones.

Some people look at the way things are and ask why.
They are called practical...
Some people look at the way things were and ask what if.
They are called practically useless....
