I think the coaches see what a lot of people on here see...Nussmeier has some pure playmaking ability that is hard to ignore. The question for the coaches is can they get to a point where they fully trust him to execute and they haven't had enough time yet to fully evaluate that. They have a better sense of what Daniels can/can't do in live action because he has played in so many more games. That, coupled with the fact LSU is opening with FSU and not Florida A&M will likely give the nod to Daniels. In a world of many unknows, people tend to err on the side of caution and go with a "known" commodity (at least at first).
That said, they want to get as long a look at Nussmeier as reasonably possible. You can see flashes of a big time playmaker there...if he can play with discretion

Better if he does not till game time. Keep FSU thinking even though he knows who will start right now. Best to keep FSU off balance and make them practice for both QB's.
