False with Perrilloux running it, true with Jefferson.
ETA: So maybe you should change your title to: Jefferson running the option has been a disaster

This. RP's version helped win a national title. The mechanics and timing of any option live and die with the QB.

I'd say last year was a disaster with the amount of negative plays which resulted from the playcall.

This year besides the Blue fumble(ironically I thought this was one of the best option plays Jefferson ran), I believe it's been gettin a 3-4-5 yard gain. I wouldn't call that a disaster.

So at best it's a 5 yard gain, at worst its a turnover.

i'll limit this to LSU (he was bad at calling it at Oregon also)

Honestly, how many Oregon games did you watch while Crowton was there.

I'd set the over/under at 1

I don't remember the option being an issue in 2007.

Because we had 2 QBs who were capable of running it

I think your belief is faulty.

2 i think

all you have to do is look at Dixon's stats with Crowton and with a spread option guru in Kelly

SFP it isn't Crowton calling the option.

look at Crowton's Coaching History.

- BYU: No
- LATech: No
- Oregon: With 1 QB(Dixon), with the other no
- Bears: No

Crowton hardly ever even used a mobile QB for his offense. it is Miles dead set on the Option with JJ, listen to the press conferences.

Yep. One record setting year, one good year and one bad year. If running the option was such a detriment to the offense, I would expect to see three bad years or at least more bad years than good. That is not the case.

Crowton + Jefferson = terrible offensive production

I hate it, but Jimbo ran it under Miles and Saban, too. In the SEC a QB could get hurt. Notice Saban at AL doesn't run it any more.

So that means Miles must have run the option at OSU when he was the OC and HC. Is this the case? I don't know but to automatically assume it is Miles without looking at his previous history is wrong. I know Crowton ran some option as OC at Oregon right before he came to LSU. This along with the fact that we run the option from spread formations leads me to believe Crowton brought it with him.

he started using it at UO and failed there with a guy who almost won the heisman in a spread option the next year

but what i'm saying is, it's proven from press conferences it's Miles who is the one dead set on running the option and running JJ. It's unproven that Crowton is the one calling these plays.

therefore, i don't think crowton is the blame on the wortless option we run.

If the qb can't run the option don't run it. How hard is that to figure out?
