Some people are just never happy. LSU could have gone out and hired Phil Jackson and people would be complaining that they weren't sure of his ability to recruit. People complain because now they think LSU didn't interview enough white coaches, while you have others (i.e. Bad Cat) on the other end of the spectrum.
I think some people just enjoy being miserable and there's nothing we can do to change that. Good luck and welcome to LSU Coach Johnson.

One thing is for sure. The Big Johnson's conference schedule just got a whole lot easier.

As a long time season tix holder I am very pleased with hire. This guy was in the sweet sixteen two weeks people.Comes from a strong BCS conference and is a great recruiter.I see great things ahead for the program. If you bitch about this hire you were not a BB fan to begin with and never went to games because you didn't like Brady.Show your true colors RANTARDS and get behind the program or STFU.

So it said reporter Emily Turner...is that the same Emily Turner that was a hot-arse softball pitcher?

You are a fricking idiot. Who cares if he is black, white or yellow. Since when has that been a prerequisite (meaning criteria which means...nevermind) for winning. See Richardson, Tubby, John Thompson,,,,,

Love the hire. It's about time we get some integrity back in our basketball head man. It looks like Stanford already misses him and is pissed at their AD.

"Trent Johnson has become one of the top basketball coaches in the country", said Stanford Director of Athletics Ted Leland.

This hire sounds to me like we got one of the best guys out there for the price range we were willing to pay (ie, Brady-type money). I would prefer that we went after the best coach possible, no matter what it took.
Right, that's why I said ... average. We got the best we could get for an average program. LSU has never made a commitment to LSU basketball and, judging by this hire and the lengthy process it took, they don't seem to be making a commitment now.
Not saying Johnson won't do a good job. Hell, I'd take just about anyone over what we had. But I'm not sold on him with one good year at Nevada and one at Stanford. And he doesn't seem to be too fan friendly, something that hurt the previous coach.
I wish him well...

and if we go to the ncaa tournament next season, the same people who are complaining about him now will swear he is the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ.

Fan friendly? Go to the Mercury News and read the articles about TJ. The community absolutely loved the guy out there.
Average? Gee, we just hired the Pac 10 Coach of the Year. That's plenty good enough for me.
He's a great recruiter. As a Coach, is a teacher of the game and of life. He prepares his athletes for life after basketball.
This is a seasoned veteran who will bring respect and stability to LSU's basketball program.
LSU's committment, pay the dude a million plus per year. That's not too shabby, even in the college basketball world.
Goooo tigers.

Sure you do...
God...i can't believe all the bitching and moaning...this looks like a terrific hire...he was the coach at one of the top academic schools in the country and still managed to coach his team to the postseason the last four years.
i was hoping for grant or ford, but this guy has a much better resume that those two.
As tigerfans, we should thank our lucky stars that a coach like this is willing to move from the West Coast and bring our program back to prominance. But the difference between some of you whiner fans and our new coach is that our new coach is an optimist and KNOWS the tremendous potential to build a dominant program here.
Go put your Yankees hat on for the summer and go away...

I would imagine wafb or wbrz are covering the press conference

It should be live on Cox cable 19... Getting some good gardening advice in the meantime...
