Faulk, Clayton and Spears are guys who made monumental shifts in the direction of the program... when everything that had been headed in one direction (players choosing out of state programs over LSU) was turned around by them and the result was years of high level success.

White and Lawrence can have that kind of impact with players choosing to stay that extra year and put a more seasoned and experienced player on the field... with huge success.

I'm hoping it goes that way. Understand if it doesn't, but these two guys (and Divinity and Fehoko) could make a statement that would be huge for the program for years to come.

Ok I almost Got your point.

Realistically though, it isn’t guys like white staying, it’s gius like Lawrence, Waethersby, Clapp, and Toliver.

I dont Expect first rounders to come back, but 7th rounders probably should.

I think Bradie James Vs Trev Faulk is the perfect example. Faulk should have come back and developed for one more year like James did.

I should clarify, that I meant them in context of them coming to BR in the first place. They signed with LSU at a time La. kids were going out of state mostly and they set a new trend of the 5* La kids coming to LSU.

ETA: so maybe they set two trends! 1 for coming here and 1 for leaving early.

In which case I hope we keep the former and dispel with the latter. I'm greedy like that.

Andrew Whitworth redshirted and still stayed through his senior year and started 53 games I believe?

This 1000x...i expect players mid 2nd and later rounds to come back...1st rounders i expect to leave...We have numerous guys that leave knowing they arent 1-3 rounds and are ok with it. Its like they are ok with meritocracy

Or really if you can drastically change your draft stock come back and do it.

If you can jump from a fringe first rounder to a sure fire top 15 do it.

Weren't Clayton and Spears Saban's recruits? I think Faulk set that trend under Dinardo who had recruiting on an upswing thereafter.

Back then OL regularly redshirted and in 2006 and earlier there were significantly less juniors leaving for the draft than now.
