Meh, sure seems like he righted the ship quick and now has a hunger to do good. No pun intended, although 350 is huge. Think Mt Cody and how his size helped

he would be a perfect nose tackle and provide some much needed depth on the DL.

I really hope he's changed enough to make this happen. He COULD be a game changer in the middle.

Not if he can soak up 2 blockers. His job will be to eat space in a 3-4.

If this kid can get his act together and be available this coming year, oh my, watch out. Would give us some much needed help inside.

Yep. He tried to enroll at Akron but couldn't because he didn't finish his semester at WA. Sometimes you have to say thanks but no thanks.

When has Miles made a bad decision on these types of things? Weve seen others including the great one east of here screw this up,so I understand your concern.

I am surprised that the word is Miles is open to bringing Valentine back after the way he left.
But until he makes a poor player decision, he deserves the benefit of doubt. Hes been a master thus far.

Valentine seems serious about righting this wrong in his past.He has plenty of other options.

This is what educating and being in charge of an amateur athletics is about to Miles.

Kicking Mathieu off tuned out great for the kid. Keeping Jeremy Hill ditto.

Miles understands the risk and also knows how these decisions can affect his legacy.
He will make the right call.

If he's got his shite together then come on down. Tigers can use him, for sure.

no one ever accused Mathieu of being a bad teammate.

Failing multiple drug tests and getting kicked off the team is the definition of a bad teammate. Especially when you know you are getting tested and 100 other guys on the team didnt fail.

We know from when he and Trey L were here the first time that chemistry can sink an otherwise talented team.

You think team chemistry was our problem last year? And you think Trey L and Valentine were the issue? The issue last year was poor offensive line play, due in part to injuries, and Brandon Harris. Nothing that happened in November had anything to do with Trey L and Valentine.

Setting aside academics and drug tests, this lack of discipline issue has a lot of risks.
We know how much he weighs, but do we know anything about his strength and conditioning? Technique?
Lots of folks seem to think he will be an immediate contributor, but I haven't seen the evidence to support that...
He weighs 350.
what else do we know since we saw his tape as a HS senior?

So the NCAA will probably let him know by December 2018 if he's eligible.
But seriously, hope they expedite the process after the recent Gordon decision fiasco.

10 lbs at most. He is a big guy and we could use a true NT. I don't want to see him below 335 lbs.

scratch that. I hope he gains 10 lbs. One big fat 360 lb, hard to move mammouth to play some NT would be a nice addition to the defense.

LSUANDY25 has a great point here. Instead of nitpicking about the kid's weight, off-field issues, etc. let's trust in the guy that's done a very good job in evaluating players. Les has flaws as a coach but when it comes to gauging a players ability to control himself and figuring out what needs to be done... he's fantastic. Let the man do his job. Imma sit back and root for the Tigers!

This. There are a lot of things you can validly criticize Miles for, but personnel discipline issues is not one of them. He gives players a reasonable number of chances (not always the same for every player and problem because each player and each problem is different), and makes the tough and sometimes costly decision when necessary.

If Miles is "open" to letting him return, then I trust his call.
