That is the Indian Mounds with trash all on them:
"In 1999, the mounds, which are a part of a larger mound group throughout the state are older than any in North America, Mesoamerica or South America and predate the construction of the great Egyptian pyramids, were placed on the National Register of Historic Places."
And the War Memorial, with trash all over it: "The LSU War Memorial, which sits in front of the Memorial Tower the LSU Parade Ground, was dedicated on Oct. 8, 1998, in memory of those who gave their lives in military conflicts from World War II through the present day, although it is a memorial for all Soldiers/Marines/Airmen, LSU Alunmi are written on the walls. The LSU Alumni Association raised the money necessary to construct the memorial and then devoted it to the university. Former President George H.W. Bush was the guest speaker for the formal dedication ceremonies."
Again, it's not the trash...that is pathetic, it is the lack of respect for one of the most historic/beautiful places in all of Louisiana from Louisianians!

I also noticed that some vehicles had beer bottles purposely put under their tires. One was under a car as we were walkin to the stadium I went ahead and kicked it out from under it. WHO the shite does something like that? I made sure none were under mine before pulling out.

Butch that has been talked about as well but the trash contract is 18K per game and thats 8 trucks.
Yeah I'm just gonna say bullshite right there. The prisons get 20K per fiscal year for 7 games plus various cleanup projects. The private contracts are no where near 18K per game.

That will certainly cut down on the trash but also really hurt the Baton Rouge economy

how you gonna issue citations to a group of 50 plus people?
someone throws trash on the ground. have officers keep an eye out. With that much trash, im sure you can find enough people throwing shite on the ground to make some money

It's a real pain in the arse when I wake up on Sunday morning and see mountains trash piled in front of my dorm. And I know it's not students who do it cause we don't party in front the dorms. At least not mine.

As said earlier this is not news. This is every game. People do need to get the number and call for more trash cans when needed. They have no way knowing what areas need more cans or not
Posted on 9/26/10 at 8:22 pm to Mudminnow
that's a shame, somebody should pick all that up and toss it in the bayou
Posted on 9/26/10 at 8:22 pm to Elleshoe
there is absolutley no telling what they find on the ground among all that trash.

Honestly, LSU just needs to stop not enforcing the dry campus rules on gameday weekends. PERIOD. There is no alcohol allowed on campus for 97% of the year, so just impose that rule every day.

This.
Seriously, as a former history minor it breaks my goddamned heart to see the mounds trashed up like that.

It's not just the parade grounds.
Every area on campus gets trashed, just some more than others.
Sure people who have parties of 50+ spend a lot of money.
But for all their food and beverages, paper plates, cups, bottles, etc., how much of their own trash do they haul out, or even pick up?
The couch thing should be easy to track down if LSU wanted to seek clean up costs.
I'm for more pictures like these - people need to see what they leave behind.
Next week, after the Tenn game - people will see it in dailight. But they won't care until the fines start.

Judging by those pictures it looks like lack of garbage cans is the problem. We had the same issue at our spot. Some people in our group were out there by 9am and we never saw the facility trucks with cans once. I called the landscape services dept and they told me all cans had been put out. We had 3 or 4 cans to cover about 20 or so good sized tailgating groups. I had some trash bags so we just used those but LSU needs to provide more cans. In the pictures in the OP there's only 1 can in sight.

its the frat boys that leave all the trash

Honestly that's a bit drastic, but something that gets the idiots attention needs to be done...the only thing that works for fricktards like that is shock value. Get them talking about it and that shite will be curbed quickly...

I know for a fact that the picture with the couches is a frat tailgate, but I'm not going to say which one.
Why should these spoiled frat brats get off scott free? If they leave 3 couches on the parade grounds, let them pick them up - or pay for the clean up cost.
