not even close to one of the best coaches. Great recruiter, still has lots of work to do on in game adjustments
Anyone seriously not agreeing with this is a complete buffoon.

Nobody is saying we should fire the coach. Unless we lose to Mississippi State. Then a lot of people will say we should fire the coach.

You’re right the posts have been “don’t extend Wade”
So technically he wouldn’t be fired
Stuff fricking dumb.

Yeah, Woodward is biding his time to hire Buzz Williams away from A&M.

The question I've asked many times on this board, and never received an answer, is whether Saban would be judged a success at Alabama if he were to go 9-3 for the next 5 years. It's certainly still much better than his predecessor, and it would likely be better than all other SEC coaches over that 5 year period.

I think this is something that gets over looked too, a lot like to act like LSU is the only one's bringing good players in.
LSU has had 1 first round pick since Wade has been here. To compare
Bama has had 3(Sexton,Primo,Lewis)
Tennesse has had 3 (Williams,Springer,Johnson)
Auburn has had 2(Okoro,Okeke)
Arky has had 1(Moody)
Georgia has had 1(Edwards)
Florida has had 1(Tre Man)
I think we have the same amount of draft picks total as UGA lol

You are trying to equate pts per game to meaning you have a good half court offense.
I never said such a thing, but the whole goal in basketball is to score points, it doesnt matter where they come from.

That works great against lesser teams, not so much against better, athletic teams.
Yeah, definitely didnt work this year against Tennessee and Kentucky when we were healthy or the last 3 years when were the program with the most wins in the sec.
You are a clown show and constantly proven wrong.

This is the first season since he's been here LSU has had a poor offense. If you want to argue against Wade's decision to stick with the ball screen heavy approach with THIS group of guards, that's reasonable. But to say they "have had" poor half court offensive teams under Wade is just flat our wrong. That's what has carried the past three LSU teams where defense was mostly optional.
IMO, if you want to argue about Wade's shortcomings, the argument may be that he has been reluctant to adjust his approach, on offense and defense, to fit his personnel. LSU is not really implementing a different overall approach on defense this year that they did not try in the past. The team just has the personnel better suited to execute it AND they have bought in. Offensively, they aren't really doing much differently from what they have done the past 3-4 seasons. The difference is they just haven't had the level of guard play they had the last 3-4 years who could execute at an elite level. When you have Waters, Smart and Thomas who could just create a shot anytime they wanted it is much easier to execute a ball screen offense. When you have a PG like Gaines, who struggles scoring outside of dunks/layups, the offense is easier to defend.

Regardless of the recent skid the guy is easily one of the top coaches in college basketball. LSU is actually very lucky to have him.
This in a nutshell is our fan base. The first part of the above statement is pure embellishment. There is no legit basis to conclude Will Wade is "easily one of the top coaches in college basketball." However, I absolutely agree he has done a very good job in rebuilding LSU basketball and LSU is fortunate to have him. The portion of our fan base that thinks he is God's gift to college basketball are idiots. The portion of our fan base that thinks he sucks and should be fired are idiots.

Expressing frustration during a losing streak which included some very mediocre at best competition does not equal wanting him fired. For two weeks LSU played poorly with what seemed to be without any changes or much emotion. For the life of me, I don't see how the Wade Worshippers can't understand that.
I hope he stays a long time.

Are you serious? If he went 3-9 the next five years he'd be a "success" at Alabama. Now, 3-9 could nibble away some at being the "GOAT" but 9-3 wouldn't change a thing in terms of "success."

My hypothetical about Saban was about CURRENT success, not a historical question.
So if Saban went 9-3 every year for the next 5 years, with the talent he's bringing in, would those years be judged a success?
Of course the answer is no, even though it's still better than Mike Shula.
By the way, the entire point of this exercise was in response to the posters here who constantly say Wade is better than his Jones and Johnson, so it's all good.
I'm saying that works for a couple years, and then it should fade away and we should judge Wade based solely on himself, with no comparison to past poor coaches. That's it.
