Again he was given the lead late in both games and he’s giving up over 400 yards and a hair under 30 per game in those losses. You can blame Kiffin but a defense like that isn’t getting you anywhere.

The Kentucky game was lost more because of the punt return for TD and Sam's terrible fumble. Neither of those were on the defense.

The defense also got a stop before the half. Still can't get over that.

This reminds me of 2020 when the offense was scoring nearly 40 per game and getting blamed for losses early in the season

This offense put up 24 against Ole Miss and 27 against Kentucky in regulation.

Neither of those teams have great defenses.

It’s not unreasonable to think Lane’s teams going forward will be able to win those games.

His defense gave up 20 points in regulation, including 7 that shouldn't have counted, against UK.

LSU never led against Ole Miss.

The offense settled for a FG to tie instead of capitalizing on three straight stops by the defense to take the lead with a TD.

LSU also got the ball back with over 5 minutes and couldn’t respond, threw a pick to end the game.

I’m not even hating on the offense just don’t understand this fixation on the defense.

He’s acting like it’s all on the defense against Ole Miss. like somehow 24 points is a winning effort from a Lane Kiffin offense.

What are the stats for the defense when it’s the fourth quarter in a one score game?

i don’t know his ranking, but Kirby’s defense just let an unranked Auburn team march into field goal range in a tie game in the 4th qtr.

one week after Texas let a shitty Oklahoma offense score 10 points in the 4th (plus a defensive score)

Florida scored 10 in the 4th quarter against Texas this week too.

so apparently it’s not just a Baker thing.

The defense gave up 8 points in the second half against Ole Miss and 6 in the second half against Kentucky.

If you had offered that before the game for a Lane Kiffin coached team on the road against two good offenses and mediocre defenses I would have taken it 100/100 times.

Focusing on the final drive and ignoring everything else is just childish.

This is exactly my point. You’re looking at this from specific plays. Leavitt also turned the ball over TWICE in the second half inside our 30 and the defense did their job. That game was a combination of special teams failure, offense turnovers, and yes, some defensive lapses.
But to say the defense solely is to blame for that loss is a complete disregard of watching the actual game and forming an actual opinion.

This is a big week for Baker. If we see more of this type defense he will continue to get heat for not doing well in clutch situations. His defense needs to show up on the road not just at home.

Way to upvote yourself.
I’ve argued all day, and you’ve provided zero logical reasons why you don’t believe Blake Baker is a good DC other than some yardage stats…. Which is ironic because our defense is in the top 5 in major categories.

OM entering the game vs LSU was 35% on 3rd down, we gave up 60% to them, 78% in the 1st half Kentucky is 20% vs other opponents this season on 3rd down, we gave up 36% to them.

That’s great. We are 3rd in the SEC in 3rd down percentage.
