You're sadly mistaken if you think taking Ball from us is irritating.
Thanks for taking the time to come over to the rant and tell everyone in a totally not bitchy manner that you aren't irritated.

I'm not as concerned as some over his recruiting ability. Despite the perception that he may be lacking in that area, he was able to garner the respect and blessings from Tyrone Johnson and his family, as well as make an early impression on Dee Anderson to the degree that some were thinking he may de-commit from us and switch to Georgia. So, the ability to connect with top prospects is there. I would imagine that being around three former Recruiter-of-the-Year award winners on our staff will benefit him greatly. I think recruiting will not suffer going forward.

"Not only is he a good position coach, he's an outstanding special teams coach," Richt said. "I also see Tony as a guy who has a great understanding of the big picture. I think Tony understands the running game, I think he understands the passing game and he's got some really strong leadership qualities, too. I think he's a guy that could be a coordinator one day somewhere. But I'm really glad he's here."
sounds like he can also help Coach Penishead on special teams

if Ball was so good, why didnt Bobo take him to Col State with him. not impressed
At what position? You gonna leave Georgia to be a WR coach at Colorado State? No.

He's known as a disciplinarian. He's a technically sound coach who preaches discipline and understands route trees and route-running and the receiver's responsibilities in a pro-style offense.
UGA QB's have averaged-averaged now-2,500 yards passing per year under Richt and they've had only one first-round-type talent at that position, along with a few other good players. That's as much of a comment about his lack of recruiting as it is his ability to produce chicken salad out of what some may construe as chicken sh!t.
I have a feeling Dupre will be challenged in a positive way by Coach Ball. If you don't practice you won't play. If you don't block you won't play. If you aren't dedicated to doing it right, you aren't going to play.
He'll be a nice compliment to out-of-state priorities as a second recruiter, and we are probably safe to send him after regional targets with a guy like a Raymond, an Ensminger or a Bay-Bay/Steele. He won't have his feet under him to recruit one-on-one outside of his assigned area of the state when he first gets here.
I'm pessimistically optimistic if that makes sense. He's got a stocked cupboard to show off his developmental capabilities and prove to in-state kids he can derive results out of talented players. He is set for 2-3 years of good initial results if the kids buy in to him.
After that, he can go in-state and continue as a complimentary recruiter as a position coach for out-of-state receiver targets.

Leaving UGA for Col. St is like going from LSU to A&M.

Who cares about his recruiting right now?
We just got rid of 2 tons of wasted recruiting space at DC and replaced them with monster recruiters
Hope this dude molds Chi Dupree into the Top 10 talent he is

Was he the WR coach for AJ Green?
I think we will be completely fine from a recruiting standpoint; Glad we got someone who can coach 'em up

I'm interested to see WHY UGA fans actually think he's a poor recruiter. Is he uninterested in doing it like a Chavis or they just simply got pissed over losing out on a few guys and blamed him? I can live with the latter.

This is a good hire.
Not sure why some people are disappointed with it. He's very similar to Henry... Excellent WR coach, not the biggest recruiter. But what does that matter? We've landed stud WRs without having a big time recruiter at the WR spot. We will be fine in that area.

He isnt the best recruiter. But he is one heck of a WR coach.

We don't need help recruiting WRs...shite, we have several in-state this year that we can't offer...just like last year...we need a coach to teach the finer points of playing WR. Catching the ball is easy, but what happens before the ball is thrown is very important too.

Needs to teach our receivers how to adjust to poorly thrown balls.
