Just depends on if Kelly feels Sloan had a bad enough performance to warrant firing.
He's really the only person who can accurately judge that.

If Sloan is not the OC next year, he’d be the betting favorite.

I would honestly be shocked if Sloan doesn’t go to Michigan and Rees comes to LSU.

I'd be shocked if Sloan went to Michigan, he's from Virginia and played at ECU. First coaching stop was South Florida and he's been in Louisiana over 10 years now.
He's going to take a lateral transfer to move across the country to a place where he has no connections?
Seems like a reach.

EDIT: meant I’d be shocked if Rees wasn’t the guy if Sloan went to Michigan (or elsewhere)
Must’ve been the buffalo trace talking, lol.

I think Rees is definitely the first call if Sloan departs, I just don't think Sloan was bad enough to fire.
A more interesting question is whether Rees comes to replace Nagle in maybe a PGC/TE role.

Why on earth would Tommy Rees do that? Wtf?

Did we watch the same games this season?

Too deep for me to answer. Only BK can answer this. With Nagle leaving there is a coaching vacancy

Familiarity with BK
Perhaps he doesn't like the NFL
Gives him a path to be an OC again if Sloan fails next season

Neither you or I are qualified enough to accurately judge his performance.
Not only that, but even if we were, we don't have enough information to do so.

Passing game coordinator/Qb coach with the browns. Technically, he could take the same position with LSU now.

If Sloan is out, I'd be shocked if it's anyone but Rees

He is terrible on game day calls which is Why BK took the play calling sheet the last two games!
Posted on 12/6/24 at 10:09 am to matty3387
Why pay another OC when Bk can call the plays like Kiffin does for Ole Piss.

Sloan did get better as the season went along but he had set the bar pretty low. The main complaints I had about him were 1) not calling nearly enough screen passes and 2) not calling enough slant routes for the WRers. He does have the TE run across the middle. I don't know if LSU WRers would run routes across the middle, but I surely enjoyed the Anderson 75 yard TD vs A&M. I also thought that end around with Z Thomas on a 4th and 1 vs Florida was ridiculous near the beginning of the game. LSU was doing fine along the LOS in that game but I guess being cute on playcalling was more important than getting the first down...which LSU didn't get. I did notice the next couple of plays in that same type situation, they simply ran it straight ahead and made the yardage. Hester and Dickson BTW said the same thing that most of us thought...what a stupid call that first one was by Sloan.
