And if Brennan can't beat out McMillian and Narcisse, then maybe he's not all we thought he was.

by all accounts he had beat them out.

The rant sets these way too high expectations, then no matter what happens they are disappointed. Brennan has plenty of time to be the LSU QB, he will get a chance this year to do some good stuff...it is almost impossible for the starter to make it through a year unscathed.

And if Narcisse decides to hang around for 4 more, he will get a chance too.

Everyone, including the young QBs, needs to take a deep breath and enjoy the competition.

ya need to watch burrow and Myles go thru their progressions in games they saw action & the spring game. It’s night and day. Myles will get there he just needs more time imo.

I'm not saying he wasn't a really good QB. I'm just saying his accuracy, in particular, has somehow been overblown. That is just one trait of a QB.

I know...wasn't knocking you, and I did agree. I don't think most fans really KNOW that number off hand, and simply assume it would be as good or better than the guys they see today. Accuracy has become a HUGE thing in QB play and that's partly due to the type of routes run and what DB's are allowed to get away with then versus now.

His other numbers in comparison to his contemporaries and his personal accolades make people assume his accuracy was much higher than it was. Though, I'd bet, it was actually fairly high for QB's in that era.

I'll agree with "pretty good" I guess after looking at other players from the era.

However, people talk about him like he was never missed a pass in his career.

Sidenote:
I don't think most people realize how truly incredible Baker Mayfield was...

The last 2 years combined he has average 71% and 11.3 YPA. That is fricking absurd. No one is close.

He's the first player to lead the nation in completion %, YPA, and passer rating in the same year. And he did it twice.

Brennan will get every opportunity to win the job, but if he doesn't, then hopefully JB9 is THAT good. Another year under Moffit will help Myles out a lot. He WILL lead the tigers one day and I bet he will be special...

Brennan needs better footwork and poise. Arm strength is not his issue.

Read all of my post in this thread, and put it into context. I'm not saying Brennan will be great, or even good.

By all what accounts? Didn't look like it in the spring game at all, and that's all we have to go on.

Name dropping

I have a golf scramble picture taken with me, Bert Jones & Hodson...Tommy is very tall. He had Bert by a couple of inches. I'd say he's more like 6'5.

Or maybe we should stop expecting every QB to jump right in and solve all of our offensive issues before they are fully ready. Brennan may end up being one of the best ever to put on purple and gold when it's all said and done, but doesn't mean he should be expected to do it right away.
young QBs start and do very well all over the country. In prior posts, I've provided a long list of FR and SOPH QBs who start and play at a very high level.

Usually (but not always) if a QB has "it" he shows it very quickly.

Did you happen to catch the NC game last season? For Bama, a true freshman replaced a true SOPH (who started his FR year). UGA had a true FR QB.

Young QBS play all over the country. Can Brennan improve? Of course. I'm just thinking any improvement will be marginal and won't turn him into a very good SEC QB. Hope I'm wrong.

Brennan won't start while Burrow is here and healthy. Burrow will be the starter and that's that.

he was number 2 ahead of McMillan and Narcisse for an entire year, he was ahead in the Spring. Obviously a years worth of practices had our staff convinced he is better.

And won the starting job as a freshman.

And won Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the year.

And then walked on to Oklahoma.

And won the starting job immediately.

And then won the goddamn Heisman.

And people still doubt this dude.

Myles is as different from Tommy Hodson as a QB could be. Tommy was definitely alpha and he still holds the passing record for an LSU QB to this day.

really? Because McMillian "started" the spring game with the no. 1 offense.

And if I'm wrong and Brennan did beat out Mc and Narcisse, he CLEARLY didn't show it in the spring game.
