I'm sorry did they have a record number of players get drafted?

So is it possible some coaches can suceed with less talent? If so why? scheme? coaching?

Nick Saban succeeds with a fuuuuuuck ton of talent.

Urban Meyers succeed with the same talent, and then failed without it.

Wright was a solid player for LSU. There just wasn't enough ball to go around at that point with every one around him. That's a pretty weak argument for wasted LSU talent.

I think that the talent wins out despite of the coaching.

Reminds me of my high school baseball team which continually fed kids to top tier college programs, including several who went on to play in the pros. And, despite the talent, the teams never went far in the playoffs, for which I blame the coaching.

Can also be said that there are many coaches who do a lot with far less talent. No reason we should have such terrible offenses in relation to the talent on campus every year.

There are definitely teams the have more moral victories than LSU, but that is moral victories. There are some great offenses out there, but they have horrible defenses. There are some teams that put up gaudy numbers everywhere but the wins column.

We don't always have elite offensive talent. We have elite offensive layers now but they are freshmen.

Do we have a record number of players drafted in the last three years, not to mention the undrafted free agents doing so well in the NFL? I guess that's Sabans players to!

didn't read the responses to your thread but I haven't seen anyone question his ability to develop players, that is obviously one of his strengths. What most (sensible) fans question is his (along with Cams) offensive philosophy which seems to be what is holding back this team. Some of the dumber fans question his ability to develop QB's when it is also obviously the system he puts them into. Hard for a young QB to look worth a crap in this system. Hell even Mett didn't look that good his first year here and it was his 4th year of playing at the college level (Georgia, JUCO, and redshirt).

What isnt fair is them complaining about talent not being developed one minute then at the end of the season saying they only got drafted because we recruited so well.

His NFL draft numbers far out perform his recruit rankings. Therefore : talent is being developed.

they were lowly ranked out of high school, then the recruiting service got it wrong. If they were ranked high, then they were already good and didn't need devolving. Gotcha

let me shed some light for ya'll. The offense system we run is like playing an opponent with one armed tied behind your back. Tough to do. It's amazing we do as well as we do with it.

I do not think people "hate" LM I think it is more of being "hard heard" and not able to adapt to the situation and adjust in a "minute".
2011 NC game is a perfect example J J should have been yanked early, but not L M, it is like he will not change fearing it is not his decision??
If we do not get our QB situation the next two years will be a total waste with our talent.

Out of the 50 or so LSU players in the NFL, only a few (around 5) are OL. This is glaring, especially since Miles played OL at Michigan.

2 that were recruited by Miles - Joe Barksdale and Trai Turner.

Those 2 are the only offensive linemen recruited by Miles that have been drafted. Both 3rd-round picks.

no matter what your stance on Miles is, there comes a time when Miles, and the people that hired him have to sit down and assess, are you doing what we/I was hired for? if not, do we/I need to make changes so that I might fulfill those objectives? if somebody is too comfortable to change their stance then one side or the other needs to be changed

He has two SEC championships and two NC game appearances in 10 years and he won one. There are other good teams in our conference. You can't win them all. I wish we would have more, but that's not the same thing as saying he underachieved. The guy wins championships. And even when he doesn't, we are competitive.
