Do we have a record number of players drafted in the last three years, not to mention the undrafted free agents doing so well in the NFL? I guess that's Sabans players to!

They are going to tell you he only recruits the talent but cant develop it. They are also going to ask you why we havent gotten better results in w/l with all that talent. Then they will turn around and complain about the talent we do have.

NFL teams draft natural talent. Most of the time they don't care about development in college because they will just develop these guys themselves.

The bigger question for me is what some other coach could have done with all of that talent.

7-3 in 2012 against decent competition
7-3 in 2013 against decent competition
4-3 so far in 2014 against decent competition

Is this not a fair question? Record number of draftees to the NFL and nobody should question why a team with so much talent (proven by the nfl) didn't perform better?

Is there a term for running oneself directly into a solid brick wall?

Bigger question is how we've achieved little step-brother status in our division with all of that talent.

There's a Chinese riddle for you.

Oh yeah its completely fair. What isnt fair is them complaining about talent not being developed one minute then at the end of the season saying they only got drafted because we recruited so well.

(I just posted this in another thread, but relevant)

I guess one could argue that he brings in 5 star guys like Patrick Peterson and they don't need much development....fair enough...lets look at some of the just 2 star and 3 star guys who he has coached and how they have fared:

Tyson Jackson - 3 stars - NFL Starter
Jacob Hester - 2 stars - NFL Starter - now out the NFL
Trindon Holiday - 3 stars - NFL Special Teams Starter
Brandon LaFell - 3 stars - NFL Starter
Danny McCray - 3 stars - NFL back up
Kelivn Sheppard - 3 stars - NFL back up
Lamin Barrow - 3 stars - NFL back up
Morris Claiborne - 3 stars - Won Thorpe - NFL starter
Tyrann Mathieu - 3 stars - Won Bednarik - NFL starter
Bennie Logan - 3 stars - NFL back up
Alfred Blue - 3 stars - NFL back up
Elliott Porter - 3 star - Starting at LSU
Terrence McGee - 3 star - significant PT at LSU
Ronald Martin - 3 star - Starting at LSU
Jalen Mills - 3 star - Starting at LSU

Yup, terrible developer of talent

CLM has had some brain farts, can't argue about that. I have more of an issue with our DC, our D has given up to many game winning drives that has kept us from playing for more championships or getting a bowl win. It was all on CLM on January 2012 though.

Miles has had one critical area of poor development and that has been at QB. That is also the most critical position of a team. So along with what usually appears to be poor play calling and game planning and gameday tactics, it's enough to cause us to struggle as we have.

He's done a great job at developing and recruiting at every other position. His one miss is magnified by the importance of the position and also suffers because his weakness as a gameday coach.

Bama's final drive isn't near the top of the list of things that pissed me off about that game. Fact is, with college first down rules (stopping the clock), getting into field goal range in the final 50 seconds isn't such a herculean feat. Defense will play soft to keep from giving up the big play, and you can nickel and dime them pretty much until you're within FG range.

Nailed it. The QB development is absolutely mind blowing. You would think they don't even practice throwing the ball.

so, basically, frick Miles amiright?!

If they were lowly ranked out of high school, then the recruiting service got it wrong. If they were ranked high, then they were already good and didn't need devolving. Gotcha

I think most fans on here would say the defense is the strength of most of our teams....with a better offense (specifically being able to pass with some consistency) the defense wouldn't have been in the position to lose the game. Hell I wonder how many times our defense was in that situation because the offense couldn't WIN the game by getting a first down.
