Great that they are allowing the public for the Thursday scrimmage this week. Maybe we can get some reports on our front line pitchers like Hurd, Holman, Ack, Guidry, Primeaux etc.

I assume that these guys must've thrown on Thursday last week since we didn't see them the rest of the weekend. I also hope they start putting the velos up on the scoreboard like they've done in the past.

FYI:

LSU BASEBALL

We have 10 Left Handed Pitchers on this years roster.

15 Right Handed Pitchers.

A few players can pitch and also play a position.

Once again, this staff has been doing their jobs.

Question asked at Coach's Committee meeting tonight: "Why are Friday games scheduled for 2:00? Coach's answer: To avoid playing in colder weather than night games to be safer for the players and have more fans stay later in games.

Several of those weekend we have multiple teams at the Box and they are playing games against each other that don't involve LSU. Playing our games in the afternoon helps to ensure that we get out games in.

Coach Johnson also told Coaches Committee that LSU has four-game series to start the season, so the four-game scrimmage schedule will replicate those weekends.

Scuba, you left out the part of Jay's answer to that question when he said he did it to trigger Choupique...

Something else he mentioned was that starting next season the SEC Tournament will include all 16 teams and be single elimination. He was one of two coaches that voted against that format.

Good, because that's a stupid format.

Coach Johnson showed last season that he places very little emphasis on winning the SEC tournament.

He uses the tournament to set up his pitching for the NCAA post-season and to rest any players who might have some bumps and bruises so they can be ready for the Regionals.

He might have a different mindset if LSU needs to do well in the tournament just to get into the post-season but I'd prefer we not have to experience that again anytime soon.

Opening day will be fine.

The rest of the Monday and Thursday 2:00 games will have a raucous crowd of 1,200. Maybe they all will stay to the end though.

That’s pretty hard to do with 16 teams. Even if you had 4 4-team pods, that’s 6 games played in each pod. So 24 games to be played over a span of let’s say 4 days.

The problem is letting every team in.
