Tigers have a pretty big hole to fill but there’s a lot to like otherwise.
quote:

LSU’s special teams units had a major turnaround last season, finishing in the top-10 overall in S&P+. And while a lot of that credit has to go to Cole Tracy, obviously, for having the best overall kicking season in LSU history, he was just one component.

LSU Special Teams in 2018
SPECIAL TEAMS EFFICIENCY RATINGS
Category.......................Rate.....Rk
FG value (per kick)........0.45.....13
Punt efficiency..............76.10%...7
Kickoff efficiency...........96.20%....1
Punt return efficiency....17.70%...128
Kick return efficiency.....50.00%....44

Overall, LSU dominated kicking the ball and covering kicks, and used that to create field position advantages regularly, something that was incredibly valuable with an inconsistent offense.

But ultimately,

All Ed Orgeron all the time for Tiger Ree. Ed doesn’t pay him to watch the Sweet 16

No problem with that. Stay focused brother, they can't do it without you.

there will definitely be more missed kicks next year, but I think the special teams will still be really good with von rosenburg and atkins. If York is as good as advertised there may be zero dropoff overall in the special teams department if we have a real threat at punt returner (Stingley)

I haven't followed the spring practices as much as I probably should.

For now, I would just say the Tigers could surely use contributions this season from two true freshmen.

Place kicker, Cade York hopefully can be a very good replacement for Tracy. And Derek Stingley, who has been impressive so far, should be a tremendous threat as a punt returner.

I guess you would rather talk about spring practice in the fall?

We have to get something going on punt returns and, to a lesser extent, kick returns. Punt returns were awful last year with Giles.

That was covered in the article and has been mentioned in this thread a couple times. The staff knows improvement is necessary and have an idea of what it will take.

With basketball doing so well I've paid less attention to spring than usual

Look forward to seeing a new punt returner this year though hopefully spring will show!

Congrats...you are now going to be called out by our resident OSU tourist who followed Burrow here for not saying he throws the best ball in college football...without question.

Enjoy the coming shitstorm you get for liking the guy...

End of April/beginning of May.

In the middle of an NCAA basketball tournament that holds a huge significance with the following:

1. Highest recruiting class since 2003.

2. In the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2006

3. The most wins by an LSU men's squad since 1999-2000.

4. Haven't won 13 away games since 1987

5. Highest ranking since 2009

6. Waters set a single-season school record with 94 steals.

And then there's this whole Will Wade thing going on in the media.. Suspension and all of that. It's kind of a big deal. you should check them out.

Don't worry. Spring will still be here when it's over

It would certainly be difficult to play in an arena full of Michigan state fans. So I am doing my part to help with that.

The Spring game is April 6th.

If you need to concentrate on basketball it is okay. Nothing wrong with that. I am following basketball, softball, baseball, spring football and football recruiting right now. This is not bragging either.

Thanks, but no thanks. I am patient and content to wait until the dust settles to see what the end result will be. I don't need or care to read innuendo, claims whether true or not, and all the attacking and crying over crap that may not even come up again or be discussed when it counts.

The WW drama will not diminish what this LSU basketball team has and will accomplish for me.

Hopefully you are wrong. As I mentioned above, the LSU spring game is April 6th. The NCAA basketball championship game is April 8th.
