No, no they didn’t.

We had a top 5 current pitcher in MLB on that team and couldn’t finish them off.

We had nearly $50MM in 2024 salary in our pitching rotation.

Out of all the teams we could play, why did we have to schedule Stony Brook? Just hearing the name brings back bad memories. For years after that series, the Tulane fans would wear those red Stony Brook hats to the LSU-Tulane games in Turchin just to taunt us.

Got beat by an awful lack of mental toughness during a rain storm and a no-showed game 3.

I still remember all the talk about how they were going to win it all because they beat us. The truth is they won because our stud pitcher melted during an inning of rain and they had outfielders who actually play outfield and caught relatively routine fly balls and liners that LSU couldn't even get to. If memory serves, they got blasted in both their games in Omaha.

Likely Thatcher but not sure if SBU has announced yet. They are losing to Northwestern St 1-0 in the top of the 4th right now

We lost because Paul Mainieri thought the best way to beat an already worn out pitching staff from the prior weekend was to swing at every pitch thrown near the strike zone. Zero patience.

Jay Johnson’s offense approach makes Paul look like a little league coach.

The second day of the rain delay game was pretty wild

Cant remember who it was, but remember when that guy stole second on ball 4 and slid past the bag and got tagged out? I member

ETA: pretty sure it was Jordy Snikeris

We also had Ryan Eades after game 28 of the season, rather than Ryan Eades prior to game 28 of the season.

He was gassed at that point in the season (and experienced the same thing in both of his seasons as a starter). I wouldn't say blasted, but he didn't get through 3 and gave up 3 runs, if I remember correctly. That was enough to win that day for Stony Brook. Of course, we let back-to-back nobodies CG us.

Thanks for the correct details. Remember how red he would get in the face when the weather heated up? He was not built for the South Louisiana heat.

That is too funny, I certainly do remember that but did not until you brought it up
