Misleading stat... Oregon 335 LSU 273. That's a 62yd difference.
You had 80 garbage yards on your last TD that you scored with 30 seconds left in the game.
Good post though.

Tyrann Mathieu must be the luckiest player in college football with all the gifts he receives from other teams each weekend.

and you would of not beaten us if we did not gift wrap those 20 points
In all honesty, Oregon was the beneficiary of "gift wrapped points", not LSU. On Oregon's first TD, Oregon was stopped on 3rd and long and would have attempted a FG at that point. A phantom "personal foul" penalty was called on a player that didn't even make contact with the UO player resulting in what may have been a 15 yard penalty and a 1st down instead of the 4th down and FG attempt. That was a gift by the officials to UO resulting to 4, possibly 7) points. Another gift was the unforced fumble given to UO by LSU when Lee checked off and the center snapped the ball to "no one" which resulted to a free 3 pts for UO. The 3rd gift came in the form of a soft prevent defense which happened because of the 40-20 score and OU got 7 pts because of it. That stradagy was to allow UO to use a lot of clock and not allow LSU's overly aggressive defense to give up a cheap score and little clock. Now the gift wraps you were talking about were not given to LSU like you suggested. Both teams were playing full speed and as a result, LSU "took", not "given" those results.

Injuries being a factor? Yes but we had three experienced offensive starters not playing. Take out your starting quarterback and see how that plays out for most teams! Or sit LMJ on the bench all game and see how many points you guys score. If LMJ was the most dangerous player on the field (probably was BTW), the second most dangerous player was watching the game from his apartment while his brothers in purple and gold were beating up the Ducks!
As far as stats, once we opened the big lead we pulled a Saban and began to play "not to lose". Your D knew we were not going to throw it so they went from 8 in the box to 10 on some plays. And we didn't try to exploit that since it would have involved having to throw down the field. But a couple play actions and a throw to RR (or RS if he was playing) and we could have ended up with 50+ and overwhelminig stats against the #12 D in the nation. Instead we resigned ourselves to running three plays and punting because Les knew that our D could contain your O on most occassions.
Oh yea. That last touchdown was against the rookies and reserves so you actually only scored 20 on the real LSU D. And subtact about 65 yards in total offense that you got against them.
BTW, how do the UO coaches account for cramps when you are playing in a 72 degree air conditioned dome? I actually read someone say (UO writer) that was a factor that could have changed the game. How about being in shape for the first game and you wouldn't have cramps!
That being said, best of luck to the Ducks. You guys have an outstanding program. You play exciting football and are very fun to watch.
As your fans claim, we are still arrogant about playing in the best conference in the country. Of course, until someone unseats the SEC consistently for the NC we will continue to be that way. But like Dizzy Dean said, "it ain't braggin if it's true!" And you know that it is true!!! Can I get an Amen!

Oregon players refused to break 10 of his tackles on Saturday.

Takes balls to come back and take your punishment (if you're still around). Fairly solid post, but Oregon did not "give up" all of those fumbles ... LSU forced them. And LBJ and Barner's injuries were caused by a fast, aggressive defense ... they didn't happen slipping in the shower.
Bottom line is that the game could have been different had Oregon not turned the ball over, or had LBJ and Barner been at full speed, but the fact of the matter is that LSU was the reason those things happened.
Good luck and I hope Oregon wins out the remainder of the year.
Solid take 1984Tiger and I agree. He showed up to take his licks so give him credit but the fact is, LSU was the team missing three starters on offense. The OU turnovers were all due to LSU making plays whereas the one Tiger turnover "giftwrapped" points for the Ducks. The worst officiating call of the night also went against the Tigers; the phantom holding call on OBJ's great catch. So yeah, the game could have turned out differently; LSU could have won by a whole lot more IMHO.

1984- spot on! LSU caused Oregon's troubles in the game injuries and otherwise.

Generally a good post and good luck in the future but:

we turned the ball over 4 times and 3 of those times we fumbled the ball near the end zone, making it easy to get those points against us.

one could see it either way, just our errors caused that loss

Yes it did suck that our best Linebacker/hardest hitter was not playing for that game. And our All American CB/nations best Punt returner.

Even though we had many more yards vs you, it is the scoreboard one goes by to decide a winner and you thumped us.
when a team has short scoring drives on a short field, it adversely affects their yardage totals. if LSU had a couple of more possessions with a long field, and continued to sustain drives the way they were able to do, who knows what the yardage would've been.
point being: yardage totals are situational at best, irrelevant at worst.

Dont for get the fumble LSU gave to oregon on that high snap that gave yall an easy touchdown, so the points offset and you only really gave us 13 points. That would put us at 27 points and yes you did score 27 points but i believe if we really needed to we would have stopped you on that last drive.
Also about the dropped balls I beleve we had quite a few more than you did including several long passes that would have given us crucial first downs along with one in the endzone.
and for what you said about DT having a bad game i think he looked pretty good, he threw for 240 yards and the one interception the cb simon just had better positon plus hes 6'3.
Overall good post though

Thank you. Oregon is one fine team, make no mistake. We knew it and still know it. I ain’t looking forward to a rematch anytime soon. Look, many of us know how we win big games, but most did not realize why until the Alabama game last year: Les Miles. The stats in the Ohio State (NC) game were close except for the score. Ohio States' last score was also an LSU gimme. Both of our losses last year were close games, even against Auburn, a year in which we were nearly last in offense in all of Div I. LSU usually does not start fast because we have not had an outstanding quarterback since Russell, so you are wise about not concluding Oregon would have won but for this or that mistake. We had two starters out also. We endure the angina Miles causes us game after game while he grinds teams down with his defense and then wins in the fourth quarter with his offense. He works harder than his team, they know it, and they love him for it. Miles is why Sam Montgomery was pounding his fists into the turf.
Miles works so hard because he has it in him. He not only played for Michigan football, he was a Michigan COLLEGIATE wrestler, someone that must be able to grind at full speed for 9 minutes. Can many linemen struggle against one another all out for 9 minutes?
