Make it happen while they tear down the PMAC

If you ever saw a game there, you would never want to play another game there. Saw 4 great years of Pete playing there. It was a shame he had to play in a rodeo arena.

I tend to believe it's the 6pm start that is a big turnoff. I went to the Florida game and enjoyed it but getting there sucked so much I decided to stay home. If they pushed it to 7pm that's huge in avoiding BR crappy traffic.

So did I. You have to admit though, when Pete was with the freshman team the building ROCKED!. When the varsity game was played right afterward, by half time there couldn't have been more than 500 left in the crowd. They were not very good or entertaining until Pete was on the varsity.

you're being kind. They sucked at 3-23.

Let me add that I did enjoy the way the sun would shine thought the windows above the seating onto the floor on Saturday afternoon games. Also loved those long arse nets they used back then.

What is capacity & could it be renovated?

Wiki says 6,756 current seating but 12,000 peak?

First number too small, 2nd number about right.

6400. And yes it needs some touch ups to host a basketball game.

I’m ready for something new. I hate the huge open air feeling of a big arena. I wish we would build a smaller gym for basketball only. Leave the PMAC for gymnastics and other things. Put the seats right on top of the floor, reduce the height of the ceiling, and reduce the capacity a couple thousand.

It's time.

Wade has asked to play one game there for fun and they haven't even been able to figure that out yet.

Dickies Arena just opened in Fort Worth & I swear it looks like the same architect designed it that designed the Cow Palace.

That arena seats 14,000.

When it was being used prior to 1972, the configuration for basketball would seat 10,000. That included a lower section around the court with chairs set on risers. I would imagine the cost of the portable flooring, and to restore the seating arrangement to seat approximately 10,000 would be far to costly to be considered. The basketball arena didn't have A/C back then either, not sure about now. Although at this time of the year I'm not sure it's needed.

It would need major renovations to be useable for anything, the interior/arena is very literally falling apart. I've never seen a basketball game in there, but went to the rodeo there many times as a kid and hate to see it the way it is now.

6 PM start time sucks during the week. 11 AM on a Saturday isn't much fun either.
