I have had people flag me down and tell me about it because they see me wearing LSU gear. I think it is Monday evening at the Piccadilly during football season.

coater is absolutely correct...there are things I like about the gathering (good information), things I don't like (the Southern Baptist sort of stuff), things that could be improved (bringing more and younger people into the gathering...)

My brother and I joined that group with Bill Hulsey years ago. We were young and broke but did what we could when we could, just wanting to be around a bunch of tiger fans. Hulsey treated us like dirt, like we were shite on his shoe he needed to wipe off. Enjoyed the meetings and once we cooked for like 10 buses from BR when Da Tigers played Ole Misey in Jackson one year. But Hulsey's attitude made it unbearable and we said screw him. I could say more but I'll leave at that. Hey Hulsey

I was there last night as well...found it to be an enjoyable event....liked the food and the facility better last year, but had an enjoyable time last night as well...and I sat in front if the merchandise table, so I can vouch that it was busy...

I was proud to see that many in attendance!

That sucks. I live in the Jackson Area. I want to join.

honestly, I haven't spent a lot of time around the group, but I have found the events that I have attended to be pretty enjoyable...message board chatter may or may not be exaggerated, but don't let it sway you away from joining the organization...you might enjoy it...

it's a shame that the situation in Jackson is like it is...events like last night show what the potential of the area could be...

I've been and I'm not going back! I'm 46 now but was about 40 when I went.

Btw, I'm in if you guys have any info on getting together with a fellow heathen for beer and Tiger football or baseball games!

I agree. After living in Jackson for a couple of years, I've come across more LSU fans/alumni than I would have previously thought.

I met with Heath one time for lunch this past fall, and it seemed like he had a lot on his plate as far as shite being all over the place here in Jackson. He was trying to get a dues system in place because it's kind of hard to do anything without money in place, but he was so busy with work. Doesnt surprise me that he had to move to Tulsa, I don't blame him either. I dont think I would want to take over that project in the state it is in.

The Jackson chapter has big potential. It just needs some serious work and time put to it. Hope for all the best with it.

I have met with Rick Perry and others in TAF and they know the situation. TAF needs to grab the bull by the horns and just start their own gig, not deal with a "sanctioned" member. We all know that whoever takes the role as head of a local
TAF chapter will be facing a very tough task, Bill will do everything he can to sabotage it, he did that once before to a "friend" of his who became president of this group. He would not release names, addresses, anything to help the new president out. Made himself look like a hero to those who knew no better. Do what I did, join TAF and get the Jackson numbers up to prod them into taking action. You can still go to these events when they come to town. Get out from under the heel of his boot.

I stopped going 2 yrs ago after Bill called a special by-invite-only meeting to tell his side of the story about the feud between himself and Gen. Richard and enlist support of those there. I have not been back since but told the assembled guests that there was more to the story than being told. 400 people at the Tiger Tour stop but only about 25 on Monday nights of game week, and that with Michael Bonnette calling in from his office with an update of the happenings with the team. What does that tell you? I would love to see a viable booster club organized in the area.

We are now working to pick up where Heath left off with the alumni association. Send an email to lsujacksonalum@gmail.com and we can see about getting something together.

SO your choice in Jackson is between a religious dictator run group and a group that is not run at all? No wonder so many of us fly solo.

Count me in! I try to go to all of the home games and I am new to Jackson, but I would really like to have a designated LSU watch party somewhere around here. I am not LSU alumni (grew up in BR, went to USM) but I would be happy to help in any way I can.

Not sure why the Jackson people in this thread don't coordinate a lunch and get an organized group going and say frick you Bill and do your own thing.

Obvious interest.
