Not only that, but they would have to basically gut the entirety of the interior to make everything handicapped accessible.

would be worth it.

I was there a couple of months ago passing through and also was shocked at the smell of age and mildew and the windows etc... It really looked awful. Why can't they sandblast the stadium and repair the windows.

Geez you would think this would be and every year clean up job.

Anyway... I was really surpised.

Why doesn't LSU just renovate them and lease them for football season.

I was thinking...just fix the windows that are broken or brick them up like they did to the bottom level windows...this isn't Auburn...you would think for the price that people pay for tickets we could have a decent looking Stadium..

you could still clean up the outside and improve the aesthetics without dealing with the asbestos and internal renovation issue. I think this is what Alleva was referring to.

THIS THREAD F-KIN SUCKS! The looks of it makes for part of the whole picture of LSU lure. Neat and pretty has not been or ever will be. Night games, rolly fog, party fest. Its football, not tennis, fig.

I agree.

I think we should put some big candlabras or torches on the outside and turn off the electric lights

nice.

I think if the state bidded out a job to gut out the dorms and take care of the asbetos, they could have a real money maker on their hands.

make half the rooms suites, and the other half dorms/apartments where students could live.

I dunno... something like that?

surely, they could come up with something.

Yep, give me old, smelly, Alex Box over the new AB any day. That new brick, paint, steel and lack of mildew isn't for us!

Look at the Admn building. Can someone get a pressure washer? I agree that TS has a charm about it, and some of that is its age (lower bowl), but it wouldn't kill them to get rid of the rusty window frames and broken glass. It would still have an older look to it with the concrete arches.

exactly.

the old looking dorms and dusty windows as well as the "roman coliseum" look of the outside adds to the mystique of the legendary venue..like a revered battleground of the middle-ages..and i think alleva and lsu can make it nicer(clean up the dorms, etc, but still make it look like it didn't just get remodeled just cause some people complained..

perfectly said. I love every square inch of Tiger Stadium, but if i had to pick my least favorite part its the new look to the outside of the west side. too modern, to clean cut.

i'm glad to see that tiger fans are talking about something other than pick 6 and jj. i wish they would fix it up, no need for the broken windows and such.

Asbestos is usually the reason given.

Also, lead paint, lead pipes, etc. Lead paint is almost worse (regulation wise) than dealing with asbestos.

I've heard its all of the above. The athletic department through TAF would like to renovate and rent them out for pregame parties, etc. Right now the cost is prohibitive. The asbestos and lead would have to removed first and the cost would be enormous.
